[Other] - Simultaneous Landing Despite an Occupied Stand

Aircraft may already land even though the position is still occupied by another aircraft, due to delays in turnaround.

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
Explain how this would be implemented from a gameplay or UI perspective.

If a delay occurs during aircraft handling, the player already has the option:

  • if in use: assigning the position to the next aircraft scheduled in the schedule system.
  • assigning the position to another aircraft

The same principle applies when delivery manager is in operation.

The aircraft are then parked temporarily in separate positions, for example at IAD in the deicing position between 1L and 1C.

However, this should generally be limited to only a few aircraft to keep the performance of the game.

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
What improvement would this bring? Better usability, realism, fun factor, accessibility?

This would increase realism, especially at large airports, as delays often occur there, adding more dynamic to the game.

I had a simpler idea of just having stands be available either as soon as the planes finish handling or after pushback (like when planes taxi out) since most planes need to taxi to the stands after landing anyways

I think, just make the stands available the moment you press or the ATC allowed the Pushback. No need to actually wait for the outgoing plane to start taxiing since the incoming plane will still have to taxi from the runway.
