Royal Brunei Airlines had previously operated 1 Airbus A340-200, which had been configured for VIP services for the Brunei government. The aircraft first entered service in May 1994, operating services for the Brunei government for diplomatic missions to destinations in Asia, Europe & North America. The aircraft would remain in service up until July 2018, when the aircraft was withdrawn from service. While donning the Royal Brunei Airlines colorway, this aircraft was not in the care of the Royal Brunei Airlines fleet.
