It actually used to be local at LEJ, but it’s not anymore, for whatever reason. I still have many of their local contracts that can’t be found in the map anymore.

I don’t know about that…

Hopefully we can have that back!

Would be good if they come back then. As the game is only place we can have aircraft or airlines that no longer with us.

Should’ve been built when T5 opened.

Should’ve been this plan from the start, mad how it’s been going back and forth over the last couple years. I could see why the cheaper one was suggested but the M25 would just become even worse for traffic.

But also why are they saying it’s gonna be like 33 billion to build, it’s a strip of tarmac! Like in Dallas the DFW expansion is 9 billion for a new terminal…

I assume a large portion of those 33 billions would be acquiring land and compensating the owners of the homes to be demolished. It’s really not just “a strip of tarmac”.
And a sort of related piece of news, Vienna moves in the opposite direction, scrapping their plans for the third runway:

Well I hope they’ve learnt their lesson from HS2 tbh. Seems like a massive cost but they have a whole new motorway to build with added earthworks and the M4 junction which the runway will sit on top of the slip roads for, the moving of several lakes and ponds and the rerouting of the waterways that feed them. The railway will have to be moved underground with the destruction of the village of Harmondsworth, the moving of BA’s offices and the hotels along the By-Pass, the replacement of the moor area as its a loss of green belt land. Plus every Tom, Dick and Harry will have to be involved in the evaluation process and there will be lots of consultations and people sitting around thinking with a lot of tea and biscuits.

Terminal upgrades really aren’t in the same ballpark. That, in Toronto’s case, means minor cosmetic changes. A lot of the cost with these will be structural or land-cost based, as land is really expensive. Also, a new runway is not merely a strip of tarmac, there’s some pretty serious engineering and far stricter requirements for them than taxiways. Also, idk the specifics here but sometimes new runways require new ATC facilities and whatnot.

:red_circle: New Pacific Airlines has ceased operations due to unsustainable financial losses. The airline initially planned to operate transpacific flights between North America and Asia, with a stopover at Anchorage, but due to the closure of the Russian airspace and and delays in certification from Korean and Japanese authorities forced the airline to change its business model.
