:chart_increasing: Airport Type & Size
Southwest Florida Int’l Airport is an international airport with a single runway that is a whopping 12,000 feet in length.

With over 13,000 acres in size, the airport is one of the largest airports in the US in terms of area.

However, most of this area is a large nature reserve. (Swampland)

On the passenger volume:

It is a busy airport; In 2024, over 11 million passengers were handled at this airport.

Terminal:

The airport has a terminal building, which currently has 27 gates, which is divided into three concourses:

Concourse B:

Used by Air Canada, Frontier, Southwest Airlines and Discover Airlines, among others.

Concourse C:

Used by Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and WestJet, among others.

Concourse D:

Used by American Airlines, Breeze Airways, JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, among others.

Concourse A:

This concourse no longer exists in the current terminal structure or is intended for future extensions.

Suitable for widebody aircraft {A380/B747}:

Southwest Florida Int’l Airport is not actually intended for the manufacture of these aircraft types, but you can turn a blind eye

In Real, only aircraft in the category (the one from the game) up to a maximum of E would be handled here.

But let’s see what comes out :joy:

:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
Southwest Florida Int’l Airport is the third largest airport and the second-support airport with only one runway in the USA.

And the surrounding area is already :deciduous_tree: :star_struck: :palm_tree:

:world_map: Unique Features or Challenges

Environment:
As mentioned above, the airport is the third largest airport in the USA if you go by area.

6,000 Acers (over 40%) are deliberately used as permanent wetlands and environmental compensation areas for nature conservation.

This makes it an airport with an exceptionally high commitment to protecting the local ecosystem, particularly Florida’s swamplands.

The one track challenge:

Just like at Sint Maarten Princess Juliana Int’l Airport, there is only one train here.

This could perhaps become a challenge

If buildings outside the airport also count, I would suggest them here:

JetBlue Park:

A striking and important place near the airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and home to one of the most famous baseball teams in the United States, the Boston Red Sox.

JetBlue Park, officially known as JetBlue Park at Fenway South, serves as a spring training home of the famous Boston Red Sox (Major League Baseball, MLB).

Here are a few pictures of the stadium:

(The image material comes from Google Earth)

This is what the stadium looks like when you look at the airport.

And so, when you look from the tower to the stadium.

Here is the view from above.

How can you use this thing in the game?

You could see players on the field playing baseball for a few minutes or even permanently, and see how spectators are happy.

It has nothing to do with what you should actually do in the game, but it would be a small but fine addition :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The swamp / nature area at the airport:

The airport has a large nature reserve. You could use that right away

How could one use this area ?

Here too I would have an idea…

How about seeing an American Alligator at a certain point ?? That would be really cool!

These are a few pictures of American alligators so you can imagine what it should look like:

Here are a few areas where I could imagine the alligator…

  1. At the Tower

I could imagine an alligator near the tower there by the fence, which is standing there and disappearing back into the forest after a certain amount of time…

  1. At one of these lakes

Here too, I could well imagine a short visit from an alligator.

He comes out of the water, stays outside for a moment and then goes back again.

Maybe you could see him swimming in the lake :glasses:

  1. On the edge of the runway

Here too, a perfect alligator would be a sighting location.

!! But it’s just an idea that came up to me!!

If that is not feasible, that is understandable, of course… But it would still be nice to see if the player could interact with nature somehow…

Here are the areas of cargo aircraft:

And here are the parking spaces:

According to official airport data, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) has a total of over 11,250 parking spaces for short-term/long-term parking around around the main terminal.

There is enough space for a few cars :joy:

And here is the official airport chart:
