Why should this livery be added?
RwandAir had agreed an offer with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) to take up the 2 Airbus A330-900neos (9XR-WS / 9XR-WT), after it was previously ordered by Air Berlin before filing for bankruptcy in 2017. After the deal was agreed in 2018, the aircraft, registered 9XR-WS, was even painted in RwandAir’s livery in late 2019.However in September 2020, The CEO of RwandAir confirmed ongoing talks with Qatar Airways for a 49% stake in the airline, with the CEO stating RwandAir would review its fleet plans with its future partner. RwandAir would cancelled the delivery for the 2 A330-900neo & the 2 B737 MAX 8 from SMBC Aviation Capital.
RwandAir had originally planned to use its two new A330-900neos to operate New York JFK routes but plans were ultimately scrapped due to various delays meant none had been received by the time the COVID-19 pandemic happened. The aircrafts (9XR-WS / 9XR-WT) would later be delivered to Air Belgium.
