South African Airways received this Boeing 747SP, registered ZS-SPC, in June 1976 and operating international routes up until 1984, when the aircraft was leased to Air Mauritius, Avia and Air Namibia between October 1984 & June 1996. South African Airways would later receive the B747SP in July 1996 and would continue operating the aircraft up until May 1999, when it would later be leased to Air Namibia for a second time up until October 1999, when the aircraft was returned in a modern livery and would later withdrawn the aircraft from use in October 2003.
