Why should this airport be
Due to there being no Eastern European airports, this would be a great airport to have, since itβs a small airport which would make it not to hard to build. The airport is similar to Innsbruck Airport, Sarajevo international airport can be quite challenging to land into since it gets a lot of fog making it hard to land. The airport is still not that hard to land into with a runway of 2600 meters making the biggest plane to land there an A330-300 and 787-8. This makes the airport much more interesting since it is an other version of Innsbruck but an easier approach and much more bigger planes being able to land. Before the pandemic a Qatar airways A330 would operate there weekly and a few A330 from Turkish airlines has landed there including an Etihad 787-8.
In July of 2025 the airport had record many passengers of 1,2 million setting a new record making the airport a busy airport. The airport is located in the middle of mountains near Sarajevo Bosnias capital. On final approach the planes pass high buildings and great views.
