San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States of America
Airport Type & Size
Dual runway airport, 08/26 at 10,400ft/3,170m and 10/28 at 8,016ft/2,443m with 4 passenger terminals and a cargo terminal.
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It’s a Caribbean hub airport with flights from all over North America, especially from the US, it has diverse traffic, would be another airport for the Caribbean but which is larger and has a lot more diversity as well as no runway backtracking which a lot of players dislike.
Major Airlines & Routes
JetBlue, Frontier and Spirit all have operations from here with America, Delta and United flying here amongst many Canadian, Caribbean and Central American airlines. There is also a large freight presence with FedEx and Amerijet having a hub here and UPS, Cargolux, Atlas Air, Amazon Air, Air Canada Cargo and DHL all having flights to the airport as well as 2 small cargo airlines, Ameriflight and Air Cargo Carriers, operating local ops from here though they both have a fleet not yet in-game.
Pan Am and Eastern Air Lines operated it as a base in the 1970s and in Eastern’s case the 1980s too. American Airlines and American Eagle operated the airport as a hub in the 2000s and early 2010s so it would be a pleasure if they were included as a local.
Unique Features or Challenges
Nicely set out, both runways are used for landings and takeoffs, normally landing and taking off to the east. Lots of potential for connections and every type of aircraft and service available. National Guard Station and lots of USAF visitors as well as other air force’s like the RCAF and RAF.
