Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” (ICAO: LGTS / IATA: SKG)
Location (City, Country)
Thessaloniki, Greece
Airport Type & Size
3rd busiest airport in Greece after Athens and Heraklion with 7.38 million passengers passing through its doors in 2024. It has 2 runways and 2 terminals as well as a cargo terminal and former air force base operated by the Hellenic Air Force.Runway 10/28 is 3,440m/11,286ft and runway 16/34 is 2,424m/7,953ft
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
Greece and South Eastern Europe is airportless at current. This airport is an interesting and unique one which would add new operating complexities, as well as a host of present and past airlines that could operate from the airport.
Major Airlines & Routes
Aegean, Olympic, Sky Express and Ryanair. Olympic could be given its A319 and A320 from the early 2010s or even could be converted into the old Olympic with their A343, B742 and A306. Could also use previous airlines such as Fly Hellas/ Viking Hellas, Ellinair and Astra Airways especially if they’re given their A320 and ATR’s to go with the in-game B463.
Unique Features or Challenges
Long taxi times depending on which runway is used, runway crossings and unique X shaped airport setup which is not in WOA yet. Military base could be used for C130 flights and unique event akin to SAN with the Tomcat, though instead with an F5 of F4 Phantom. Runway 10/28 juts into the ocean which is very unique and could make for some good photos. Firefighting aircraft operate from the airport as well which could be made a feature.

Runway below is fully constructed just an old map,
Some pics,
I’d add some photos of the runway and that but google earth seems to think the airport is a dirt bike track,
