The smaller of the two airports on Tenerife, based in the North. It has 1 runway, 12/30 at 3,171m/10,404ft, and a single terminal with 4 jetway stands (6 if C Class only) with 30ish other stands. The airport can take cargo but its mainly B Class only, parked at the B stands where Binter, Canaryfly and Swiftair’s ATR’s park, though it has sometimes taken up to 757 cargo freighters, in the 2010s this was a lot more regular.

:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It serves as the main airport for Canary regional operations alongside Gran Canaria, with mainly Spanish operators flying in and out. It has a new stand layout, only done in the last couple of years, which has prioritised the ATR operations the airport has been getting more of recently. It could make for a good Canary alternative to one of the other airport like Lanzarote, Tenerife South and Gran Canaria who all mainly operate holiday traffic from Europe.

:airplane_departure: Major Airlines & Routes
Binter Canarias has a host of operations numbering more than 20 destinations from the airport, it being the airlines main hub alongside Gran Canaria.

Canaryfly also operates a few routes from the airport to the neighbouring islands.

Air Europa, Iberia and Vueling all fly multiple flights from mainland Spain to the airport.

The only non Spanish airline flying into the airport is TUI Germany who operate a flight to DUS and FRA. Wizz is set to be the second starting flights from Santiago in Galicia.

Currently only one non-European international flight operates with Plus Ultra flying to Caracas in Venezuela.

:world_map: Unique Features or Challenges
The airport is situated on the thinner section of the top of the island, situated near the small old town of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. You can see the sea on either side of the airport with the mountain chain running to the volcano to your south and mountainous terrain to the north. You can also see clearly La Palma to the west over the sea and Gran Canaria to the east over the sea.
