Why should this airline be added?
Air Toulouse International began as an air taxi operator and grew into a notable regional and charter airline based in the “Pink City” as Toulouse is known. The airline was founded in 1969 at Toulouse–Blagnac Airport as a small “air taxi” service. For its first two decades, it catered to local demand using light aircraft like the Beechcraft 95C and Cessna 402B. In the 1970s, it even operated a weekend shuttle for skiers to the Peyragudes resort.
In late 1990, the airline pivoted to larger jet operations by acquiring its first Sud-Aviation Caravelle 10B. This move allowed them to launch services to major international hubs like London and Manchester.
Following financial restructuring in 1992, the company was reconstituted as Société Nouvelle Air Toulouse International S.A.. They adopted the slogan “Pour voir la vie en rose” (To see life through rose-colored glasses), which was a nod to Toulouse’s nickname, the “Pink City”. By the mid-90s, the airline was carrying over 500,000 passengers annually. Their network expanded from Toulouse to domestic French cities like Marseille and Ajaccio, as well as international destinations including Dakar, Lisbon, Porto, and Tenerife. During this period they eventually replaced their iconic Caravelles with Boeing 737-200 jets.
Facing increasing competition from Air France’s “Navette” service and high operational costs, the airline was acquired in June 1999 by an investment group. The airline was renamed Aeris and adopted the slogan “La compagnie qui vous aime” (The airline that loves you). Aeris focused purely on charter flights and upgraded to Boeing 737-300s to meet modern noise regulations, but financial struggles persisted. The carrier finally ceased operations in late 2003 after failing to secure new capital.
It would be a fantastic addition as either a special event carrier or for fun as an actual contract at Toulouse because ofc it increases player choice and if you don’t want the contract then you don’t need to get it
. It would also be fantastic to see as part of the Caravelles’ eventually coming to the game as one of theirs is on display in Toulouse still wearing the above colours, though looking a bit sad now after many years in the Southern French sun.
