:chart_increasing: Airport Type & Size
Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is thethird-largest airport in France and the primary gateway to the country’s vibrant southwestern region . It serves as a significant hub for both domestic and international travel, with a particular emphasis on the aerospace industry, given Toulouse’s status as the European capital of aerospace. The airport features multiple terminals (Halls A, B, C, D) and handles a substantial volume of traffic, connecting the Occitanie region to numerous European and North African destinations .

:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
TLS offers a unique blend ofscheduled, low-cost, and cargo operations against the backdrop of a major aerospace manufacturing center. It serves as a key base for airlines like Air France and easyJet, providing a mix of high-frequency domestic shuttles (e.g., to Paris, Lyon) and a growing network of European routes. Managing TLS involves coordinating a diverse flow of traffic, from large narrow-body jets on business routes to regional aircraft serving holiday destinations. Its strategic role in supporting the local aerospace ecosystem and its status as a busy regional hub would provide a engaging and challenging gameplay experience focused on efficient ground handling and scheduling.

:airplane_departure: Major Airlines & Routes
· Air France – High-frequency domestic routes to Paris (CDG & ORY), Lyon, and Marseille.

· easyJet – A key base, operating numerous routes to European cities like London (LGW & LTN), Amsterdam, Berlin, and Geneva.

· Volotea – Seasonal and point-to-point routes to various French and European destinations.

· Ryanair – Services to select European destinations, adding to the low-cost carrier mix.

· International carriers (e.g., Lufthansa, Iberia) – Connections to major hubs like Frankfurt and Madrid.

· Cargo and special operations: The airport handles cargo traffic and is pivotal for the aerospace industry, with potential for VIP and test flight operations.

:world_map: Unique Features or Challenges
· Aerospace Capital Gateway: TLS is uniquely positioned as the main airport serving Europe’s aerospace capital, home to Airbus and numerous aeronautics companies. This could introduce unique gameplay elements like VIP flights for executives, transport of oversized aircraft components, or test flight logistics.

· Significant Low-Cost Carrier Presence: Managing a high volume of low-cost carrier turnarounds, which demand quick turnaround times and efficient gate allocation, presents a core operational challenge.

· Peak Tourism and Student Traffic: Experiences notable traffic peaks during summer holidays and seasonal student travel to and from the university city of Toulouse, requiring adaptable terminal and gate management.

· Mixed Domestic and International Traffic: Balancing a high frequency of domestic flights with a growing number of international routes creates a diverse and dynamic air traffic mix.

I think the very interesting point about TLS would be the Airbus manufacture facility (and the delivery center), would like to see how it works in the game.

Exactly! That’s what sets TLS apart. Picture the heartbeat of seeing a brand-new Airbus in its pristine white livery on its very first flight from your airport. It’s not just a normal flight; it’s the beginning of an airliner’s life. A true ‘behind the scenes’ experience.

Imagine if they did an event daily based upon what aircraft conducted their delivery flight. Would be ace.

I am expanding your ideas:

Delivery Specials

So basically we will have a new type of stands (Aircraft Delivery), which we can assign those events labelled as [Delivery Flight] and normal airline contracts cannot access that. Could feature an icon with planes and confetti (or whatever).
The plane will:

  • Get out from a hanger in Airbus facility rather than landing on the runway, then taxi to the stand.
  • Does not have to unload people or luggage, get cleaned, get waste water out but will have to load people, luggage, water and food (like most delivery flights). Less time in loading people, luggage and food but have to get full fuel in most cases.
  • Could have another handling process like a celebration/media event, but I am fine if there is no such thing. (How interesting that could be if you see people walking around the plane and take photos!)
  • It finally pushes back (where you get rewards like normal events) and takes off from the runway.

Test Flights

This is also something I would like to see in TLS. It is also a type of special event.
The plane will:

  • Get out from a hangar. Maybe some of them doesn’t have full paint (but I am also fine if all are painted).
  • Taxi to the runway and take off.
  • Return after a certain time, like 1-2 hours.
  • The plane will be assigned to a hanger. Then it lands and get back to the hanger. Players get reward after the plane returns to the hangar (different from existing rewards mechanism).

Maintenance

Sometimes, planes need to have a major maintenance and this is also a type of special events. We can make some hanger to be [Maintenance Stands] and this can also be a thing in some airports with maintenance service avaliable (beyond TLS).
The plane will:

  • Request the player to assign it to a hanger.
  • Land on the runway then taxi to the hangar.
  • Being serviced. Could take more time than normal handling (like an hour or so?)
  • Pushback and take off from the runway. Players get rewards before the pushback (same as exisiting rewards mechanism).

Absolutely ace idea! That would be the core gameplay loop. It adds so much purpose and a direct link to the real-world heartbeat of Toulouse.

This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to flesh out such detailed and well-thought-out mechanics for the delivery, test flight, and maintenance events. You’ve perfectly translated the real-world soul of this place into engaging gameplay loops. The idea of a dedicated stand type with confetti is a brilliant touch.

This extensive discussion just underscores a fundamental point: TLS (Airbus) and PAE (Boeing) are more than just airports; they are the respective homes and birthplaces of the two giants of aviation.

· TLS is the heart of Airbus, where every A320, A330, and A350 begins its life.

· PAE is the home of Boeing, where the 747, 767, 777, and 787 are assembled and delivered.

Including one without the other would feel incomplete. They are two sides of the same coin. They represent the ultimate “behind-the-scenes” experience that so many aviation enthusiasts crave.

There is simply no controversy here. Adding these two iconic airports would not just be about adding new locations, but about adding the very foundations of modern civil aviation to the game. Let’s hope the WoA team sees the immense value and unique gameplay they represent together.
