:star2: World of Airports: 2024 Year in Review

Hi everyone,

As the year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished in Flyboys Games during 2024. It’s been an incredible journey filled with challenges, innovation, and lots of feedback from our amazing community. Here’s a look back at what went well, what didn’t, and what exciting updates we’re planning for 2025.

:airplane: What We Nailed This Year

Taxiway System Overhaul :vertical_traffic_light:

One of the most significant achievements this year was revamping the taxiway system. Not only did it resolve long-standing issues like stuck aircraft, but it also paved the way for smoother traffic flow and more realistic ground operations. This change is a game-changer, and we’re excited about the many features it will enable in the future.

Faster Airport Development :building_construction:

We managed to significantly speed up our development processes, bringing you three brand-new airports and a revamped Washington Dulles (IAD). This faster pace will help us deliver even more content in 2025.

Enhanced Realism :earth_africa:

Dynamic METAR Weather: Real-time weather now accurately reflects real-world conditions, adding strategic depth to gameplay.

Lighting Systems: We improved aircraft lighting to better represent real-world designs, making every flight feel more authentic.

Retractable Landing Gear: A small but highly requested feature that adds a touch of realism to every takeoff.

 What Didn’t Go As Planned

Alliances Feature :handshake:

We’ve been working hard on the Alliances system, but it’s proven to be more complex than expected. We’re still exploring the best way to implement this feature so that it provides maximum value to our community.

New User Interface (UI) :desktop_computer:

While we aimed to release a revamped UI this year, we decided to take extra time to ensure it meets our standards. The good news? It’s coming very soon, and we promise it will be worth the wait.

:rocket: What’s Coming in 2025

New User Interface :art:

The updated UI will bring clarity and usability, along with expanded features to enhance your experience.

Four New Airports :flight_arrival:

We’re planning at least four new airports, each offering unique challenges and destinations.

New Aircraft and Model Updates :airplane:

Expect brand-new aircraft and redesigned models for older planes, keeping your fleet fresh and exciting.

Enhanced Hangar Options :hammer_and_wrench:

• Add your airline’s logo directly to your planes for a more personalized fleet.

• Customize liveries for a unique look.

Expanded Handling Capabilities :tractor:

• Handling will be split into two parts: unloading and loading, offering more granular control.

• New scenarios like medical and technical assistance will add depth to operations.

Traffic Management Tools :world_map:

In the 2D airport map, you’ll be able to:

• Adjust taxi routes.
• Choose departure runway.
• Reposition aircraft.
• Hold planes at specific locations for better control.

Scheduling System :date:

A new scheduling feature will make managing arrivals and departures more strategic and efficient.

Global Aircraft Tracking :earth_africa:

Follow your fleet anywhere in the world, a feature we know many of you have been eagerly awaiting.

2024 was a year of growth and learning, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Your feedback, patience, and passion drive us forward. 2025 is shaping up to be even more exciting, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Thank you for flying with us.

Thank y’all for developing such an amazing game and I’m glad to see what the future brings

These alliance liveries are going to look 10x better, also great for if you have subsidiaries or branches with different liveries.

As someone who only uses 1 or 2 terminals at an airport at a time this will make life 10x better

At least??? That means there can be more airports than suggested, can’t wait for AMS, can only guess it’s coming this year I hope

Is prg 2030 on your list for future or would it a remodel of prg and not separate airport?
This question is not a next year question but for in next 5 to 8 years i expect

This is really cool to see. thanks for the communication upgrades this year too. That’s been the best part to my mind.

Hold on. You’re making some assumptions here. Firstly, alliance liveries weren’t mentioned anywhere, just normal ones. Secondly, I’d be stunned if AMS was one, as it says they will all bring unique destinations, and that’s not happening with another European airport.

You could have your alliance have a special livery with their logo though…
Also AMS is certainly an option. If their going for around 4 airports next year we could have one in africa one in South America then who knows for the other 2!

I mean people can use the alliance livery, such as supreme 1 then put the alliance logo on it.

As for AMS its been mentioned before in Q&As (which I know aren’t gospel) but unique destinations could literally mean anything, it’s subjective.

AMS with it’s numerous runways is challenging by itself.
