To easily add access to choose between winglet/non-winglet and engine options
How would it work in the game?
When you buy a contract, after purchase, you can click on the (i) info icon and click on the info tab, and there could be switch on/off options for Engine types and Wing types. By default all or switched on so you’ll get all types coming in, but if you switch one or two off (depending on aircraft), only what is on will be available as a model flying that contract. Some aircraft will have varying switches with the amount of options there are for models, i.e. 752:
3 different wing types: Normal, Winglet and Scimitars and 3 different engine types: PW, RR (535E and 535C)
Granted some types don’t exist like the 752 Freighter with Scimitars/Winglets and RR 535C type engines, but that’s up to the devs.
Why is this a good idea?
It will bring the accessibility to players who (only) use contracts to choose between different styles for aircraft. Will also bring realism as some airlines have different version of one aircraft but specific ones will only fly certain routes, i.e. American uses A319 from different destinations but CLT-SXM will often use A319 with no winglets while PHL-SXM will use A319 with winglets.
Personally, I think this would be better for our own aircraft that we buy. Having the regular contracts turning up with different configurations is quite interesting, especially if they are from a large airline which might have different configurations (ie DHL 757s).
Yea and if the devs want to use this as a way to do it for fleet planes that’s fine but again not everyone uses their own planes and this topic was specific for contracts only as stated in the title.
And as someone who likes realism, I think this could be an option for the type of players like myself, that I know are a few as well.
That’s also why I stated in my post that if you want the variation for yourself, the default would be every option enabled, but if I want for example UA 767’s only with winglets, even though there is a wingletless version in the game, I think it should be feasable to choose that.
Would also add as an option for those who want to only use for example, continental 737-800 with no winglets (if it ever came to the game with the 737 update) they could have this option.
The United 767s were fixed to only have winglets but it seems another update must have changed them again, so that’s definitely a case where this would work really well.
