:pushpin: Why should this livery be added?
Virgin Atlantic operated only 1 Boeing 767-300 on a short term lease with Martinair between 1996 to 1997 as Virgin Atlantic was operating the Manchester to Orlando route with the Airbus A340, which began in May 1996 but Virgin’s plans were disrupted as they gained permission to serve Johannesburg from London Gatwick, but the problem was they didn’t have an aircraft available to fly that route at the time.

Virgin Atlantic’s solution was to lease Martinair Boeing 767-300 in September 1996 and put into service on the Orlando route freeing up the A340 to start the Johannesburg route in October. The aircraft was painted in Virgin Atlantic colors, with a metal belly and it’s crewed by Martinair cockpit and cabin staff. Virgin Atlantic kept the aircraft’s Dutch name of ‘Prins Johan Friso’.

Virgin Atlantic operated the Orlando route with the Boeing 767-300 until March 1997, with the delivery of the new Boeing 747-400, freeing up the Orlando route to be under control of Virgin Atlantic. The aircraft would be returned to Martinair.
