I have an inquiry about the upcoming A330 update.
Does anyone know if the seating capacity of the A330 will be corrected with the update? I don’t know if this has been mentioned anywhere in the forum or in any of the teasers about the A330 update.
Right now the A330 has the same seating capacity as the B772, A359 and the B78X when in reality it is significantly smaller.
There are other planes in game with the same issue. In game with premium seating selected the B77W has 50 more seats in economy then the A35K when in reality they have very similar sized cabins. Also the B744 has a bigger capacity irl when in game it is identical to the B77W.
I am just curious if anyone has any insight on this as this post is not intended as criticism in any way.
Which A330 are you referring to as Airbus says max seating on the A330-300 is 440 seats, Airbus also says the same for the A359. Boeing is a little harder to find but according to wiki, the 772 also has the max capacity of 440 seats same with the 787-10. If its the A332, Airbus says the max seating is 406, which I wouldn’t call significant.
All of this matches the in-game max seating for the aircraft types.
The A350-1000 according to Airbus has 480 max seating, same as in-game, whereas the 77W has 550, same as in-game.
The 747 is a lot harder to find info on as a lot of sites claim 660 for the D variant but ofc that’s not what we’d want so I’m not sure regarding that.
The thing is it depends on the airline operating the aircraft and how they have it configured. Airbus on their website says the A330-300 typically seats 250-290 in a 3 class layout whereas Boeing says 317 for the 77L which I will admit is quite a difference but I wouldn’t know how the devs would implement that in-game.
They’ve gone off the max seating that both companies have specified and then based on that max seating the First and Business class is calculated which imo is the best way to provide the capacity of the types.
Most aircraft types use the maximum certified capacity in the game, it’s not limited to A330. I personally think it makes sense for the devs to just leave it like that, because not only do various airlines have different layouts, as mentioned above, but many airlines have multiple layouts for one aircraft type, for example Emirates have like 8 or 9 different seating arrangements for the A380 alone, so I can’t very well imagine realistic capacity being introduced.
But maybe I’m just lacking in imagination and the devs will surprise us in the future
And just to be clear, I’m definitely not saying you’re in the wrong for asking for this or anything, I’m just saying that the current system might the best of what’s currently possible, in my opinion.
