World Of Airports related hot takes thread

Right but not every gate at every airport has that, therefore resorting to a bus. My solution: if the stand has a walkway, q400 can use that. However, if it doesn’t then q400 can use a jetway

Pretty sure all have that path though at the gates.

Ehhh. 380s are one of the smallest aircraft to be boarded with stairs!

Thats only at syd. Im talking in game because if they change it for one obviously they have to change it for all

I’m talking about SYD

Therefore

There are remote X gates at LEJ too!

No Im not talking about X planes or remote stands, Im talking about S planes parking at stands with bridges…

Oh yea, I’ve made my opinion on that heard multiple times on these forums.

S planes, especially CRJs, Dashies, and ERJs should use jet bridges if parked at a jet bridge gate, and no S plane should use busses when parked at a terminal stand.

Except for Saab, atr, and twin otter(or pax can walk to the terminal if thats an option)

As I said above: Saabs, ATRs, and Twist Otters SHOULD NEVER use a bus “when parked at a terminal stand.”

I’m okay with planes using busses when parked at remote stands, but if they are parked at the terminal, they aren’t being accessed by bus, but by walking to/from the terminal.

Busses should only be used at remote stands, and never at stands at the terminal, regardless of plane size.

I agree with what your saying, but what about an airport like SAN, whose terminal stands for S planes dont have entrances or walkways directly into the terminal? Are you insisting that those three aircraft use a jetway in that case? I mean, I dont even think the twin otter is jetbridge compatable?! As for the saab, I’ve only ever seen one Image of it using a jetway. And the atr:

must I explain how this just looks so wrong :skull:

Little did I know I managed to kick @CJ_RVWilliams A319NEO out of LHR because he refused to park at a stand that was using Eco branded stairs.

You know, I’m starting to crack down on airlines who refuses to park at a stand with stairs, simply put refuse to park stand with stairs = getting ejected from my LHR. :no_mouth:
I actually had to kick EI A321NEO off NOC to LHR because he refused to park at stand with stairs even though he came from an airport with no jet bridges! :man_shrugging:

As an American - this looks perfectly fine and normal and lines up exactly with what my experience back when American actively flew ATRs was. I get this looks wrong to someone in Europe or elsewhere, but for an American airport this would be realistic.

But - IRL San Diego has outdoor stairways in both Terminal 1 and 2 for when jet bridges aren’t used. It’s very uncommon to use these, but I have. They normally make fake crosswalks with cones for passengers to follow.

From gates 1, 1A, and 2 in San (IRL), these gates are where the smallest planes and charter flights typically park, and if they aren’t using a jet bridge (again, rare), these are ground level gates with doors you can walk through.

Using a bus to access an airplane in the US isn’t realistic at all unless its a remote stand or you are at a TINY airport with no jet bridges (even then, I’ve walked from the terminal 98% of the time at small airports).

Now I’m really bugged that Gates 1, 1A, 2 (1-3 in game) don’t have jet bridges like IRL… (even though I believe these gates aren’t actually used anymore and got taken down a few years ago)

Good ol’ spongebob!

I guess you are right if thats what makes it realistic to american standads. But I just hope the devs dont apply that to all the non American airport to the game(which I wouldn’t expect them to since they are European themselves)

I think the best solution would be to code these per airport or per region as opposed to forcing the American way everywhere else, and the everywhere else way on America. Would make each airport far more interesting if they had these little unique quirks!
