AirAsia X had previously operated 2 Airbus A340-300s, with this aircraft registered as 9M-XAB, entering service in February 2009 after operating for Air Canada and operating services to Asia & Europe (LGW, ORY & STN). AirAsia X would also lease this aircraft to Air Algerie & Saudia. In June 2015, AirAsia X retired the aircraft from their fleet, and it was scrapped.
