Why should this airline be added?
Founded in 1983 this airline operated from Rome as its main base but also had hubs at Milan Malpensa, Venice, Turin, Palermo, Catania, Verona and Pisa, before being absorbed into Alitalia in 2014. Before the takeover in 2008, Air One was the second biggest airline in Italy but it was practically bankrupt and Alitalia had to take it over to save it.The name Air One is a portmanteau of the English meaning Air One and the Italian word ‘airone’, pronounced IPA (ai’rone), meaning heron (the bird depicted in the airline’s logo), which was also the airline’s callsign.
The airline served Bari and did a lot of flights across Italy from the airport, as well as having flown to Prague and Heathrow prior to the Alitalia takeover, though it began flying to PRG again, as can be seen below, from Pisa, Milan and Venice.

Cool photo from 2003 from an Air One 734 taking off showing the International terminal at FCO.
I feel this might be my best airline post yet. I do like this airline though so wanted to put in a bit more effort
