Airport Name and ICAO/IATA Code
Asturias Airport (ICAO: LEAS / IATA: OVD)
Location (City, Country)
The airport is located in Santiago del Monte, 15 km from Avilés, 40 km from Gijón and 47 km from the regional capital, Oviedo.
Airport Type & Size
Small Northern Spanish holiday airport serving the region of Asturias. Nearly 2 million passengers last year.
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
Would make for an excellent generic airport imo, would also add an airport in Northern Spain that is within linking distance of all European playable airports, and not too close to a potential Southern Spanish holiday airport like PMI or Alicante.
Major Airlines & Routes
Major airlines are Iberia, Volotea and Vueling. Air Europa used to have a presence as did SpanairI am going to push one of my suggestions Air Asturias as a local,
2019,
2015,
2012,
Also, a longshot, for a small local airline could consider Andalus or Lagunair, they didn’t fly to the airport but just an idea.
Unique Features or Challenges
Single runway, limited parking spots, cool location with aircraft landing and taking off both runways over the ocean.

Stand view,
Terminal building, looks sort of generic
Potential special livery, might do a post for this Vueling,
Potential Easter egg off the coast, bit of a long shot, Príncipe de Asturias, aircraft carrier of the Spanish Navy from 1982 to 2013 operating Harrier jump jets and Sea King helicopters, could be akin to SAN.
