Ellinikon International Airport (ICAO: LGAT / IATA: ATH) (At the time of its oeprations it was ATH, only changed to HEW when the new airport was opened. For the historical purpose of the airport and its ops it should be ATH)

Athens, Greece

Historic major international airport with 2 runways, was a 747 paradise especially in the 70s and 80s. Tight turn and landing at ATH
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It was Greeceβs main airport from 1938 until 2001 when it was closed and Athens gained the new airport. The airport was the base of operations for the Greek national carrier Olympic Airways. The airport had two terminals: the West Terminal for Olympic Airways, and the East Terminal for all other carriers. Could make for a good historical airport for Europe akin to Kai Tak.
Major Airlines & Routes
Olympic Airlines with airlines from all over Europe and the Middle East using it as a stopping point on their journeys.
Unique Features or Challenges
Tight turns and taxiway distance. 2 runways close together meaning flights have to be independently done like LGW, though later on in the airports use the Left runway was turned into a taxiway most of the time.
