Aircraft Model (Name & Manufacturer)
Boeing 747-400D Domestic by Boeing
Aircraft Category
E
Purpose or Role in Game
A passenger aircraft that operated a high density seating model developed for short-haul domestic flights, specifically the Japanese markets. Another difference with this B747-400 variant is the lack of wing tip extensions and winglets, allowing for increased number of take-offs and landings by lowering wing stresses.
Why should this aircraft be added?
While the aircraft had a small number of orders and limited number of operators, which was mainly being used by All Nippon Airways & Japan Airlines, it’s a unique aircraft as the B747-400 primarily used for international routes was used for high density domestic markets and given that the B747 family is being introduced into the game in a future update, I think adding this variant into the game would probably be of low cost to develop this model.
Airlines that use it
All 19 B744D aircraft have been retired and scrapped sadly. Historic operators mainly include Japanese Airlines:
All Nippon Airways
Japan Airlines
Special characteristics or variants
The dimensions are almost similar to the B747-400 with the only exception being the lack of winglets. The domestic aircraft has engine options which include Pratt & Whitney PW4056 (Most common engine on 747-400D) and General Electric CF6-80C2B1F (Available but less common and used on some JAL).
