Is there a way to change the player name (mine is a random 10-digit number) afterwards?

I’ve heard, but don’t know if it’s true, that the name change is not possible just before an update. I think now would be a good time to ask again. Maybe add the question “if not, when would it be possible?”

Everyone has a 10-digit ID. But this ID is always linked to a player name, which is always shown in the game at the bottom left next to the game version. Usually when you start the game for the first time Player123456789

For me, only this 10-digit ID is visible in the bottom left in-game

I think the basics for a separation of Game “display” name and Game “account” name are already implemented with that long line of alphabetsoup that you see appearing now when you type in a connection partner. This is probably an internal gamename. Next part is a modifyable "displayname ". Something similar as at Discord.
