Airport Name and ICAO/IATA Code
Dushanbe International Airport (ICAO: UTDD / IATA: DYU)
Location (City, Country)
Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Airport Type & Size
Medium sized airport with one runway, 09/27, that is 3,112m long. Supported 2.3 million passengers in 2024. It is capable of supporting the 747-400, as it did in the past, but is not able to support the A380. It might be able to support the 747-8, as an Air China B748 landed there in 2024 as part of a state visit. It is also currently being expanded with additional parking for large planes, as of Oct. 2025, which may be able to better serve large aircraft like these.
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It is a hub for Somon Air and the home base of Tajik Air.It would represent a country not yet in WoA, to my knowledge, and is pretty strategically positioned in between Europe and Asia. It could coincide with some more airline diversity, and can be used as a layover location between Europe and Asia, should that ever become possible. It is also very well suited to a potential future addition of Eastern aircraft.
