General Pre-Release Discussion

Agreed. I’d like to see some other systems fleshed out a bit more before some of these more niche systems get added.

This is the image from devblog 30.

Unlike previous ideas, HKG in the game would feature 3 runways, with all of them will handle takeoffs and landings. The white line on the map should be representing the taxi path of planes.

Seeing from the image you also can estimate something different than the previous stands prediction.

Cargo West: +6 D stands (shared), 3 groups of E or F stands (not sure on size) allowing players to trade 2 E/F stands for 3 D cargo stands.
T1 West Remote Apron: 5E with 7D shared (should be D rather than C), a group of 2E/3D, and another group of 3E/4D.
T1 Midfield West Apron: 10 E/F stands on the east side (closer to T1 Mid Concourse) share space with 16 additional C stands (Should be able to squeeze in more C planes? idk).
Midfield Cargo: No shared stands available.
T2 North Apron: 6E and 4C, not 10E and 6C.

You can also confirm there is no shared stand at T2 from the image above, even that was teased in some of the render drawings.

So there will not be a lot of C gates at HKG and that is also the case of real life.

Hopefully we can get two major hub carriers, CX and HX with options to send widebodies onto regional routes, like CX B773 to PVG (and other Chinese major cities)…

I wish we are not seeing some E only stands like IAD anymore since in reality if they are larger, they usually can accommodate small one. CX now have some great 21N that fly to numerous of locations in Mainland China, including the new opening CSX.

In total, there are only 24 actual destinations in mainland China for CX

Thanks for the update regarding the gates!

Regarding the runways: I would still say that what Karel said a few days ago still stands. One for landing, one mixed and one for take-offs. Just like in real life. HKG does not have a licence for three parallel landings, only for general use of the three runways.

But I also see the picture, no idea what that means, maybe it’s because of the wind direction that the runways are used differently? Or is it already ‘marked’ when runway maintenance comes into play? Who knows.

CX also has a lot of widebodies and A321neo on Chinese domestic routes I think.

I have found some examples of their departures to Chinese cities. There could be additional departures of narrowbodies to large cities like Beijing or Shanghai. And interestingly they have some of their international configs to these large cities? But probably all A333s are in regional config.

Do they really fly to Guangzhou with an A333 just for that short distance? Oh my god.

I don’t really know about that but I guess that is the taxi route for planes. You can see lines covering the rapid exits and that indicates how planes will leave the runway after they are landed.

So you can try to put your eye on a certain stand and find how the route for arrival and departure are drawn, I have no other idea what this could be other than a taxi map.

Cathay Pacific operates two daily flights between Guangzhou (CAN) and Hong Kong (HKG). One of these flights is operated by an A330, while the other is served by an A321neo. The straight-line distance between the two cities is very short, at less than 200 km. Despite the short distance, both flights maintain strong passenger load factors, primarily due to the significant number of business transfer passengers from Guangzhou who connect through Hong Kong to destinations worldwide. For these passengers, flight connections remain the most convenient option.

I’m really hoping for some rapid exit taxiway operations

Question: Why is Cathay Pacifico called CX and not by its actual airline name, Cathay Pacifico? For a moment I thought it was a new airline, but luckily I saw the livery logo.to realize it.

A real-time monitoring information bar for the runway and its situation, which can be set to be turned on/off at the control tower.

CX is IATA code for Cathay Pacific.

I suspected as much, but thanks for clearing that up. Regards.

Why were they banned for over a week? Seems a bit extreme

Just silenced, they can still view the forum but they just can’t post. I disagree that it’s extreme, if one person decides to disregard the rules, then they could spoil it for everyone else who hasn’t done anything. I can review the duration of the silencing if needs be anyways.

I’m not sure if you saw what they posted though, so I’m not going to comment further.
