It may be a long way off,
but I recall the development team indicating that when Kai Tak Airport is reintroduced, it would be configured to accommodate only classic aircraft types.
Given that the 747 variants would be the largest aircraft capable of operating there, I look forward to seeing how they will be introduced.

We recently reviewed the scope for the upcoming update, and we’ve decided to include the B747-400 series in both passenger and cargo versions.
The remaining B747 variants will come in a later update.
The models for all variants are already finished, but completing the full set of animations, handling points, and liveries for every version before this update would simply be too much to deliver on time.
The good news is that Honza has already created over 70 liveries for the B747-400 F alone. Only 4–5 of these will be event liveries — the rest will appear as regular contract liveries. This means players will get a huge variety of options right from the start.

This is the amazing news we all wanted to hear!! the classics can wait for all i care if we have that many liveries!! HKG is going to be 747 Heaven and im all here for it.
better keep saving my GP/SP for HKG premium and for the 100s of contracts ill plan to have lol

70 liveries for the 744F is fantastic and with most of those available is brilliant. I won’t deny I was looking forward to operating some 743s in and out of my HKG but I’m very pleased with the update already and they were just a snazzy bonus. Plus, gives me more time to do my liveries 
. Thank you to both you and the devs again for communicating with the community and your honesty. Greatly appreciated

Oh I can’t imagine it being missed out. A few of my airports are lacking a BA connection as I’m waiting for the 747 as well as slowly gathering new slots at Heathrow for that reason, plus the other 747-400s.

It seems the time has come to sell off the aircraft acquired through PP and pour the funds into HKG. I’d been holding onto the A319, E190, A332, and B762 for too long, never quite finding the right moment to use them, leaving them gathering dust. But now, finally, that moment has arrived.
