Why should this airline be added?
British Midland purchased Business Air in 1996 and turned it into its regional commuter airline operating Saab 340s on feeder services into Manchester Airport. In 1998 the airline was formally changed to become British Midland Commuter and in 1999, following the collapse of Debonair, the airline took on 5 146-200s to operate flights for Lufthansa CityLine on a wet lease contract, operating in and out of Manchester, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. In 2000, the airline received the first E145s, totalling 7 before it was rebranded to bmi Regional in 2001.It would be an excellent airline to have for the ‘retro’ liveried E-Jets and SF34’s as events for bmi and potentially for a future MAN.
