For technical reasons, as I said, I do not believe that these structures will come to the airport since they will only focus on the airport structures as it is coming to us. For technical reasons, as I said, I do not believe that these structures will come to the airport since they will only focus on the airport structures as we are seeing, although Syd was a surprise.surprise because they included the Skyline and the port is where there may be a slight hope for it. I hope those structures that you mention arrive since they would provide a more real immersion to the The structure of the airport itself. But weâll see that later, perhaps in a preview, if they release it at the time, or when that update comes out. Regards.
I appreciate your technical perspective, and you make a fair point about development focus. However, looking at other airports in WOA, many include rail systems that are integral to the airport experience. For Hong Kong, the Airport Express isnât just background â itâs a core part of the passenger journey, with its station directly connected to the terminal.
Similarly, while the DC-3 at PRG may not be highly detailed, it shows that historic aircraft models already exist in the gameâs asset library. Including one at HKG wouldnât be starting from scratch.
The Sydney example with its skyline indeed gives us hope that developers occasionally extend beyond pure airport boundaries when it adds meaningful context.
So while we fully respect the teamâs final decisions and understand technical constraints, we believe the Airport Express and a potential DC-3 are reasonable hopes given existing game precedents. These elements would genuinely enhance the Hong Kong airportâs distinctive character without requiring completely new development approaches.
Youâve been quite firm in your belief that structures like the Cathay City DC-3 and even the Airport Express âare not comingâ due to the developers âonly focusing on airport structuresâ.
To move this discussion forward, could you please clarify your stance using the HKIA map? Specifically:
- What, in your view, is the definitive visual boundary for the game? Please draw a concrete line on the map (e.g., âNorth of runway, South of Terminal 1â).
- Based on that defined boundary of yours, what is the technical or design rationale for excluding the Airport Express tracks and station, which are physically connected to the terminal?
- Similarly, why would a DC-3 model, an asset already created for PRG, be impossible to place on a plot of empty apron land within my proposed boundary?
Without this specific context, your repeated skepticism comes across as arbitrary dismissal rather than a reasoned argument based on the gameâs actual patterns. My suggestions are backed by precedents (trains at other airports, the existing DC-3 asset). Weâre simply asking for the same logic to be applied to HKG.
So, Iâm genuinely interested: What is your detailed, evidence-based vision for the scope of HKIA? Letâs discuss specifics, not just possibilities.
Based on a detailed review of the area, I can confirm that all suggested features are physically located on Chek Lap Kok Airport Island. To make this clearer for everyone, Iâve marked their approximate real-world locations on a map.
1. Cathay Pacific DC-3 (VR-HDA): This would logically be placed near the Cathay City complex, which is the airlineâs headquarters on the island.
2. Airport Express Line: The Airport Station (connected to the terminal) and the AsiaWorld-Expo Station are both integral parts of the airportâs infrastructure.
3. Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car: The Airport Island Angle Station is located on the grounds of the airport island.
4. HKGFS Airbus H175: Should be placed at the Government Flying Service (HKGFS) hangar and helipads located at the western side of the airport
This confirms that these are not distant landmarks but key elements of the airport island itself.
Could you please confirm if my understanding of the positions is correct?
Yeah, absolutely! Your understanding is completely on point.
Youâve nailed it â all of these are key features physically located on the airport island itself, not just nearby landmarks. Your reasoning for their placement is solid, and the map youâve put together is spot on.
Great job piecing it all together so clearly. It was really nice work.
As a Taiwanese professional who frequently works in Hong Kong, I find the Cityflyer airport buses are often more convenient than the Airport Express for reaching secondary business districts.
It would be great to celebrate this iconic service by placing a few static, iconic Cityflyer buses at the airport terminus, much like the display at PRG Airport. It would create a fantastic photo spot and honor a vital part of the cityâs transport identity.
While everyone talks about the Airport Express, one of the coolest first sights for me is actually the Airport Taxi Stand. That sprawling, organized sea of red and green taxis is genuinely impressiveâa real âwowâ moment that screams Hong Kong.
It would be fantastic if the airport could enhance that spot by placing a some static, classic red and green taxis on display, just like how some airports such as PRG Airport showcase taxis. It would create such a unique photo spot and officially celebrate this iconic piece of the cityâs everyday life. Itâs those little touches that make an airport truly memorable.
I am just as excited about HKG as everyone else, and Iâm sure there are lots of details that could be added besides runways and gates. It would be really cool.
But I think performance is the number one priority for the developers. And with the largest airport WOA has ever released, it will be pushed to its limits. It would be a real shame if HKG were only available to owners of iPad Pro M5s.
Completely agree! Iâm just as excited about HKG. From the looks of it, it seems even more complex and detailed than IAD, LHR, and BKK.
Honestly, I have the same concern â my device would definitely struggle running it smoothly. I guess this is the sign weâve all been waiting for⌠time to start thinking about upgrading to a more powerful device just for WOA! ![]()
Hopefully the devs can work some optimization, but itâs probably smart to start preparing our gear for this masterpiece.
If the final version really includes all these features â helicopters, the cable car, double-decker airport buses, a sea of red and green taxis, and the Airport Express train â that would be absolutely incredible. Although I expected more from Kai Tak Airport, Chek Lap Kok certainly has many highlights.
Hong Kong Airport also features the impressive SkyPier Terminal Ferry, connecting to ports in Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. It would be great to have several non-operational static models of vessels like Turbojet, Cotai Water Jet, and CKS Jet placed at the airportâs SkyPier Terminal Ferry-similar to how itâs done in the SXM Airport game.
All suggestions are consolidated into the HKG Airport Unofficial Map.
Unrealistic, for the current gaming situation
I understand your concern that adding a skybridge, railway, Cathay City & VR-HDA, and Ngong Ping 360 cable car all at once might be a bit beyond the current game framework.
Most importantly, Flyboys Games has already confirmed some of these landscape plans via email. If their technical team had thought they were unrealistic, they would have rejected them. This confirmation alone demonstrates that the features are feasible within their technical roadmap.
Recall that GRUâs subway and SYD container port might have been considered unrealistic before their release. But now, theyâve become highlights of WOA. Itâs by repeatedly pushing the boundaries of the âstatus quoâ that the game becomes better. HKG Airport looks like the next leap forward.
When we express our desire for these complex features, itâs not just wishful thinking; itâs helping the developers determine whatâs âworth doing.â Now that our wishes align with the official plan, isnât that the ideal situation?
So, far from being âunrealistic,â I think this is a sign of the gameâs health and ambition. We should look forward to how it will be realized together instead of denying it in advance.
Absolutely! The WOA team may not fully understand the landscape and characteristics of Hong Kong Airport, so it is necessary for us to provide them with some suggestions and options. This is not to ask them to accept all suggestions and implement them, but to help them create a better and more realistic HKG Airport.
People, donât set your expectations too high. I also had very high expectations for the upcoming update. Unfortunately, these expectations werenât met, as we all saw on YouTube today what the new update contains. And I have to say, for an anniversary update, I expected more. Yes, weâre getting three new aircraft models, although I wouldnât have needed the COMAC, since itâs no longer in service in real life. They would have preferred to introduce private jet traffic⌠or work on aircraft behavior or other things. Thatâs why I think we shouldnât set our expectations too high regarding HK. CNN is now coming in the generic airport update; it looks like a completely normal, small airport with no major features. I also imagined the new planning system to be different than it actually appears. I really thought weâd be able to schedule the aircraft with arrival and departure times. But it works differently; we can only assign and organize parking spaces. Thatâs why I tell you, donât set your expectations too high, before you end up disappointed.
I mean, they hit the nail on the head personally for me. Everything I expected to come did bar some more liveries. I know people have different expectations and opinions but they were pretty open about what was coming, except what liveries were to be included. Only disappointment I feel is that there arenât more pax MD-11 liveries.
Honestly more md11 liveries doesnât bother me, because I know theyâll add it eventually especially with Kai tak, but the only thing Iâd change about the update is the delivery controller not assigning a plane to another stand if the scheduled stand isnât available at least as an optional setting. I think Iâll make a feature request on that but other than that amazing update still ![]()
Wait what did I miss I never saw a Comac
The new CNN airport does feel less detailed, and hereâs likely why, as the first of the new âgenericâ airports, itâs built from a standardized template. Itâs designed for function over unique realism, which explains its simpler look.
But thatâs precisely why HKG is different. Itâs a named flagship hub, and crucially, Flyboys Games has already confirmed via email that specific features like the skybridge and Airport Express railway are feasible on their technical roadmap. This official backing moves these ideas beyond mere wishlisting.
At least we can see that these two suggestions have been accepted. I also believe and have confidence that the Flyboys Team can achieve these two points. Even if only these two points are achieved and other suggestions are ignored, they can still satisfy the Hong Kong Airport supporters.
So, while we are not sure it can get these at once, we have a solid reason to be optimistic. Our feedback has clearly shown the developers what we value for a major airport like HKG. Letâs look forward to seeing how it develops of HKG Airport.
He meant COMET not COMAC ![]()
