INN - Conversation

It’s really beautiful, I wonder if they have a full time photographer on site cause they have so many really cool photos. I also wonder what the fella taking off is?

It really would make Innsbruck so much nicer and with this potential remodel Charlie mentioned on the other post yesterday, I wonder if this could be a possibility :eyes:

The devs did do an on site visit to inn back in the summer so hopefully they can take from their experiences and make the airport as accurate as possible!

@Hirohitoswaifu you have been posting so many of these awesome historical Innsbruck photos, and I had no idea it used to be so busy and diverse with airlines. I don’t know a crazy amount about the history of the Innsbruck airport, but I’m kinda curious:

Why is INN so much less busy and diverse than it was 10-15 years ago? Nowadays at Innsbruck, there is only a couple year-round flights, being the Austrian E195 to Vienna, the Transavia 737-800 to Amsterdam, the EasyJet A320 to Gatwick, and that’s about it. But back in the day, you had dozens of airlines, 757s, 767s, A320 variants, etc.

My question is, what happened?

I suppose it’s a couple of things with INN, it’s very much a seasonal airport and a lot of airlines with a large presence there are no longer around (ie Monarch, Niki and Thomas Cook).

Where you’d use to have Monarch, Thomas Cook, Thomson and First Choice, you’ve now got easyJet, TUI and Jet2 for example.

This and the loss of the likes of Niki, Lauda and Air Berlin plus the collapse of traditional charter holidays and nipping into your local travel agent because now you just load up skyscanner. It’s very much now about getting the cheapest price, whereas it used to be about letting someone else set up your holiday and enjoying the experience. We lost a lot in the banking crash of 2008 and it’s never really recovered. Sad.

Shameless promotion but I included a little article I found on the wayback machine at the bottom of the suggestion about a round the world tour the airline did. Don’t know if such things are offered anymore lol.

Some airlines survived financial turbulence and took over the routes the ones which died had, but nothing ever appeared to challenge them. The 2000s were a fantastic time where there was so much more choice available to the consumer and sadly that can be seen in the colours you can see at airports and ofc INN. It’s why I want them to be remembered in-game lol.

Im hoping some missing airlines/liveries and routes will be added with INN remodel, like Jet2’s silver A21N, air seven B738, avanti air DH8D and TUI B38M and routes like TUI from BRS and other missing routes

Hopefully the addition of Cardiff too as that had routes to INN back in the day from Thomson/TUI.
