:airplane: Unique Features

Global Connectivity: O.R. Tambo is one of only four airports worldwide offering scheduled non-stop flights to all six inhabited continents, alongside hubs in Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Dubai .

Runway Design for High Altitude: Situated at approximately 1,700 meters above sea level, the airport’s runways are among the longest globally. This design compensates for the thinner air at high altitudes, aiding aircraft during takeoff and landing .

A380-Ready Infrastructure: The North Pier development includes facilities capable of handling four Airbus A380 aircraft simultaneously, enhancing capacity for large international flights .

Integrated Transport Network: The Gautrain rapid rail system connects the airport to Johannesburg and Pretoria, offering a 15-minute journey from Sandton to O.R. Tambo, facilitating efficient ground transportation .

Just been looking at SAA aircraft (Majority of their -600s are in storage which is sad to see but thankfully not scrapped) and went on a tour of this airport on google earth and jetphotos and I agree with the consensus that this would be a good addition for an African airport. However, I do think that 2 aircraft types should come with it that being the other RJ variants (Specifically the RJ85) and the Jetstreams (For the JS41) as Airlink operated both types, 4 146-200s till 2011 with 12 RJ85s until November 2019 and 15 JS41s until December 2023. Both were based at Jo’burg.

Also Swaziland Airlink would be a nice addition too with their JS41,

I would really like the game creators to make JNB Johannesburg airport to be created as I am from this state of South Africa. And would like to operate from this airport worldwide.

I’d also like to see JNB get in on the action; I’m rooting for it to be the next airport after the Prague renovation.

I’d love to see it but I think first a Central African airport is required. Heart set on Nairobi and then Jo’burg.

JNB would be such a fantastic addition to the game. It’s a unique opportunity to introduce an airport with so many untapped airlines, aircraft, liveries, and routes. Adding JNB would allow WOA to add many:

-New airlines to the game including Air Botswana, LAM Mozambique Airlines, Airlink, Fly Safair, Fastjet, Air Tanzania, Malawi Airlines, Zambian Airlines, and more.

-New aircraft to airlines already in the game including South African Airways A320, Kenya Airways B738/E190, Rwandair B738, TAAG Angola B737/BCS3, Air Namibia A320, Air Zimbabwe E135, Uganda Airlines CRJ9, and more.

-Airlines that sadly no longer exist including Mango, Kulula, ComAir B734s with British Airways liveries, and more.

-Exciting real world routes yet to be replicated in the game, such as Airlink’s E190 service from JNB to Saint Helena (HLE).

JNB would introduce so many exciting new elements to WOA that the game has yet to incorporate, while still handling A380s as well as many major airlines and global routes, making it an excellent option for the game’s first African airport. Of course, it’s an update that would require extensive airline and livery development work, and may understandably need to come after the 737 family is included. I’d love to see JNB in a WOA update soon.

That sounds like a great idea I agree with you. But this would only apply to those that are from Africa in general. As I’m from South Africa.i now live in England.

I agree with JNB being a fantastic addition as we don’t have any African airports yet, not to mention Air Tanzania is high on the list of airlines I’d love to see in-game .
