Yeah I know I ordered new Geminijets jet briges

No no, that’s a feature! They lay down when not being used so they can save energy

Looks like a decent sized board. I’m currently in the process of getting everything together for my new airport, getting anything I might need. I’ve got a plan for what I want to do, and a couple of new methods I want to try as I’m not going to use mats going forward, mostly alternatives to those paint pens.

I might see if I can get a cheap board from somewhere to do a trial airport on, my idea is that permanent markers, if I get some decent ones might be able to do the job of the paint pens.

Just got it from my Grandads garage and he said I could have it though, B&Q would probably be the best bet for getting wood, think they cut it to size for free too.

I’ll have to do some shopping around, currently in the process of getting some extra pieces of terminal and some additional accessories sorted. The earlier you get it the better, then I can work with what I’ve got.

You need a Tradepoint account I believe to get the free cuts at B&Q but that’s not hard to get tbf. Plywood or laser board is good for buildings, did it for a 1/72 scale WW2 airfield I did in the cadets, came out decent.

If you dont mind me asking, whats the problem with paint pens for you? I use them for my airports and they always work perfectly and look exellent!

You use the Posca ones right? Been looking into some for future projects.

Every time I use them they always seem to seep underneath the ruler, it’s not something I want to risk again as it gave me no end of trouble on the last airport I tried to make from scratch. Equally, I want to give alternatives a go in case they do work better. I’m planning a small airport before my main one to give some of these methods a try and see how it turns out.

I see, did you use to push down on them while drawing? I know that can cause leaking.

Not that I can remember, normally they’d apply fine but then when you move the ruler away it’d seep under it and ruin what was already there.

Oh right, that used to happen to me but then after i drew the line i would wait a few seconds before removing it so it dries. Another way of stopping it is putting the slanted part of the ruler in the air so the ruler doesnt touch your line and therefore cant smudge.

I get the feeling you like your European holiday airlines , you going to include a runway on the board or just taxiways.

My idea is have the taxiway as a separate board and the apron another, larger board. Haven’t got enough space for a runway as I’ve got some other stuff on display just out of view that I haven’t got anywhere else to put. I’ve made the mistake of trying to do too much with an airport a few times in the past, so decided to focus on the terminal and apron now.

I do have other airlines, they are just hidden away in their boxes at the moment. :joy:

the condors are so cool, especially the 767 in the old livery. where do you get your model planes?

It depends, I preordered the Condor 767 at Aviation Retail Direct as it was one of the few places selling them (I think Bedfordshire Diecast also sell it), but I do use ARD quite a bit for preordering stuff, as they tend to do some pretty good exclusive models. I also noticed earlier when preordering some jetbridges is that they have reward points as well now. Otherwise it’s mostly Aircraft Model Store and eBay.

Never heard of ARD, I’ll have to have a look at them. Bedfordshire Diecast is decent, he accidentally switched the numbers on a Beluga he put on ebay which I snapped up lol, he put 25 instead of 52 and when he admitted it I was happy to cancel but he went through with it like the champ he is. Aircraft Model Store still haven’t refunded me so are not in my good books. Annoying as I wanted to pick up a model they had over Christmas. You got any Thomas Cook’s?

They are the folks who have a store at Heathrow next to the Renaissance.

Indeed I have, I’ve got a pair of standard 757-200s (duplicates, I got a second one that I was going to replace my first one with a paint bubble on its wing with, but decided keep them both until another Thomas Cook 757 gets released, I know NG approved a 757-300 but with the way they are going it might be a good while until it’s released, if it ever is…), I’ve got a third 757-200 with the vote for a free day sticker on it and I’ve got a pair of A330s, a blue and grey one.

My second TUI 767 was a deal to good to pass on, came to a little under £23 in total.
