Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
Airport should be in WoA because of size, capacity and accommodation of aircrafts. It also provides the headquarters for Sun Country Airlines and also handles military operations with the Air Force Reserves and MN National Guard. It is a major hub that provides travel across the US and has had some notable international planes also land there.
Major Airlines & Routes Airlines: Delta, United, Sun Country, American Airlines Major Routes: Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; Chicago OโHare; Las Vegas, Nevada; Orlando Florida and more
Unique Features or Challenges
Has one main terminal (terminal 1) and then a smaller but still actively used terminal 2
Would be an awesome airport to have, large enough for those that love a big airport, whilst also giving enough for the more regional favouring people like myself, plus up north and central USA giving a nice diamond shape around the country haha.
I have been watching a fair amount of this airport recently, busy but compact which I think is within the scope of the game.
Some footage from 2007 with Northwest,
2016,
And some shaky gold footage from 2003,
And doing some recent research, the Northwest long haul fleet was around until at least late 2010/early 2011 so itโs not that long ago really that it disappeared, being repainted into Deltaโs colours. Short haul wise, the A320 family was the last to be repainted in mid 2010.
Also, the airline operated the 747-200B, with 2 operating right up until Christmas 2009 which made it the final operator of the 742 in passenger service in the US, something that would be superb to have in-game especially at this airport.
I might be a little biased as a Minnesotan, but I would LOVE to see MSP in the game. Itโs honestly the perfect airport to have in this game. It could start you off with a few gates at terminal 2, and Sun Country and Delta could both be the local airlines. Plus it would make better use of the deicing feature, since deicing is needed the majority of the year up here. MSP is honestly at the top of my list for airports Iโd love to see in the game!
