[Other] - Liveries at In-Game Airports

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?
I suggest adding the ability to use liveries of airlines based at in-game airports on your own aircraft.

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
Let’s take BKK airport as an example. The player can manage the airport, handle AI contract flights from both international and local airlines, including hub airlines. The player can also buy planes and create their own airline with a unique livery.

For realism enthusiasts, it is proposed to allow buying and applying liveries of real airlines based at that airport. This would work with several restrictions:

• Only liveries of airlines for which this airport is a hub can be used (for example, Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia X, AirAsia, etc. for BKK).

• The livery can only be applied to aircraft types that are actually in the fleet of that airline (for example, for Thai Airways: B77W, B772, B788/9, A359, A333, etc.).

• Liveries are purchased in the Hangar for GP, just like custom ones.

• Liveries of airlines not related to this airport cannot be used — to avoid loss of realism and breaking game balance, where the key goal is maintaining plausibility and adherence to reality.

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
I am one of the few players who values realism and plays exclusively with AI contracts. However, I want to develop my own fleet, conduct maintenance, and expand the hub — without losing realism. Currently, buying planes with custom liveries distances from reality and is perceived as a separate mode.

The ability to use real liveries of hub airlines would be a natural continuation of AI contracts and would replace their one-time servicing with permanent, long-term development. This would allow players not only to handle flights but also to build a realistic fleet management system, staying within the atmosphere of a real hub.

This feature would unite different play styles. It would suit both players who value realism and play with AI contracts, and those who want to develop their own fleet. It is a simple and logical solution that combines several approaches and makes the game engaging for most players.

Pros:
• Increases the number of connections sent to other airports
• Enables realistic arrivals in the “Random player arrival” category when connected to game airports
• Encourages more active use of GP (Golden Planes) — realistic liveries become a desirable purchase
• Creates a logical progression system: AI contract → own aircraft → livery of the same airline
• Supports players who are building long-term routes and hubs
• Integrates AI contracts and the player’s fleet into a unified system
• Helps develop the fleet strategically rather than randomly
• Allows for aircraft purchases while maintaining realism
• Expands the range of liveries available in the Hangar
• Suitable for both realism-focused players and those simply looking to grow their airline
• A simple idea that adds depth and interest to the gameplay

I second that. Nice idea!

Good idea, I do play with my own liveries but only till I’m at the point when I’m raking it in on an airport which they then become a burden taking up valuable slots. Would be nice if my 20 or so aircraft I have at LHR could become part of BA or BMI so they could blend in. Would also allow for airlines to operate aircraft they never did irl, such as a JAL A346 or a Delta 773 or a CSA A380. Would add more fun too.

With this feature — and especially if they add ICN (or another favorite airport) — I’d skip the starting phase with the usual B–C category AI contracts and go straight to investing in aircraft painted in the local airline’s liveries. For that, I wouldn’t mind spending GP at all :joy:

Interesting thought — it would definitely be fun to see something like a JAL A340-600! But as far as I know, the developers try to stick to realism, especially when it comes to real-world airlines. So this approach would probably not be approved.

Also, it would require creating many additional liveries for aircraft types that these airlines never actually operated — which would add extra workload.

In my suggestion, it’s based on what already exists: the liveries for specific aircraft types are already used in AI contracts. It would simply make sense to allow them on a player’s fleet as well — but only in airports where those airlines are actually based.

Exactly as you said — in this case, your personal fleet would actually become part of the hub airline, and it would be really satisfying to see that in action! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

By the way, regarding becoming part of British Airways.

Sometimes similar situations happen in real aviation. For example, if we imagine having Incheon airport in the game, I would paint my planes in Korean Air and Asiana Airlines liveries.
Then, when Korean Air repaints their entire fleet with a new livery (around 2026), I would also change the liveries on my planes in the game accordingly. And by late 2026 or early 2027, when Asiana fully repaints their fleet into Korean Air’s livery, I would just repaint those planes too. Sounds interesting, right?
Or any other airline updates its livery in the future, and you could apply it to your own fleet as well.
This is really for those who play for fun and like to add a little twist to the game based on real events.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
