**MithFly Australiaâs new 1.5 billion dollar narrowbody fleet upgrade and extension is now at controversy"
In recent days, the airline, MithFly, has announced that they will be retiring their only Airbus A318-100 off from Sydney Operations. This Airbus A318-100 has been doing many flights between Sydney and Nadi in Fiji. However, recent turmoil came following an emergency landing at Nadi on this Airbus A318-100 after a bird strike.on final approach damaged parts of the left engine.
This Airbus A318-100 was built in 2008. However, as the age of retirement for planes in Australia is edging closer, MithFly Australia has now decided to transfer this Airbus A318-100 to Bangkok for âMithFly Asiaâ operations commencing from August 2025 until its eventual planned retirement in 2034. The route and date is still to be determined.
The Airbus A318-100 is now under repairs at Nadi and will be going to Melbourne for further maintenance before returning to service on November 26th and re-serving the Nadi-Sydney route.
This Airbus A318-100 will be replaced by 3 newer fuel-efficient Airbus A319 Neo on this route.
The Airbus A319 Neo will operate on this same route between Sydney and Nadi from April 2025.
The Airbus A319 Neo will also operate on 4 other routes between Sydney and Port Moresby, Hervey Bay, Broome and Cairns
Along with the A319 Neo, 8 Airbus A320-200 aircraft have already been ordered, with seven still waiting for its ferry flight to Sydney.
The first Airbus A320 aircraft, VH-M3A, a 2011 Built Airbus A320-200, has been delivered and has been seen standing at Stand D93 before the first official test flights. The first A320-200 Mithfly flight is expected to take place on the 13th of December 2024 between Sydney and Canberra.

Sydney-Sunshine Coast: Inauguration: Saturday 26th July 2025: 6 times a week
Sydney-Cairns: Inauguration: Saturday August 15th 2025: Daily

By 2025 or 2026, MithFly Australia is also expecting the delivery of new cargo and widebody passenger aircraft.
