Qantas had operated 2 Boeing 747SPs, with both aircraft entering service in August 1981 and being registered as VH-EAA and VH-EAB. Both aircraft were leased to Australia Asia Airlines in March 1994 up until the airline ceased operations in June 1996. Qantas had scheduled routes for these aircraft from Australia & New Zealand to Asia (Singapore, Nagoya, and Taipei) and North America (Los Angeles) up until 2002, when VH-EAA was retired from service after the acquisition of Ansett Australia.
