Need that in the game.
An Asiana Airlines Airbus A321-200 (HL8018) has entered service in Korean Airโs new livery while retaining Asiana branding, marking the first visible aircraft integration ahead of the planned December 17, 2026 merger. About 67 Asiana aircraft are expected to undergo progressive repainting.
I really thought that was an AI image at the very beginning, honestlyโฆ
I hate to say that today, September 5th, a Hellenic Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II crashed during the Tanagra Air Show in Athens, Greece. It appears they came in too low, and went through some trees near the runway. Both pilots are deceased. Prayers to all of the crew and their families involved.
The loss of life in aviation is always a tragedy. For me personally, the F-4 Phantom II is far and away my favorite aircraft in existence, and with so few airworthy, losing yet another is a tragedy.
Prayers for the Hellenic Air Force, and Phantom Phorever. ![]()
Appears a Prime Air B763F has shot off the runway at MIA. No words of any fatalities at present but the door is open on the video so Iโd presume that means the crew has hopped out but thatโs not confirmed. (Seems since itโs been confirmed there were fatalities, RIP and condolences to their families).
Aircraft is already written off on Planespotters.net,
โThe aircraft overran the runway around 2 p.m. after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Five people were killed, three critically injured and two others hospitalized with less severe injuries, Miami-Dade County officials told a news conference.
Miami-Dade Rescue Fire Chief Ray Jadallah said some people were trapped inside vehicles. The pilot and copilot were also trapped in the plane. Fire crews were still dealing with a fuel leak on the plane several hours after the crash, Jadallah said.โ
All runways were closed and a ground stop was issued, delaying about 250 flights.
From AP News
you can always go around
โฆ
Seriously why didnโt theyโฆ
Watching the video of the landing, they had ages to go around, only thing I can think of is theyโre punished for doing so or they had too little fuel. It was doing a mere hop from SJU as well so there shouldnโt have been any sort of fuel shortage unless they asked for too little. Not the first Amazon Air 767 accident and not the first one which seems to have been caused by bad crewmanship. Iโll be intrigued to see the FAAโs findings.
Iโm pretty sure the NTSB(National Transportation Safety Board) investigates these things in the US. But yeah, Prime/Amazon Air just contracts out their flights to other airlines, in this case, it was 21 Air.
The weather could have played a part, too. They were using the crosswind runway, and as you can see the weather in the background has some gnarly t-storm clouds.
Defo could be a factor in the botched landing, but doesnโt explain the lack of go-around
They touched down on the runway almost halfway down it, and they didnโt use reverse thrust, so maybe they were debating a go-around but decided it was too late and overran the runway instead.
If theyโve touched down that late, I cannot think of any situation where they would prefer to overrun rather than go around tho
I do personally think itโs bad piloting, but weโll have to wait for the NTSB investigation.
Thatโs a very small vertical control surface, definitely a interesting aircraft.
Omanโs SalamAir is opening a route between Muscat and Copenhagen via Baghdad on Nov. 14, operating twice a week under fifth-freedom traffic rights between the Iraqi and Danish capitals. The new service will allow passengers to travel between Muscat and Copenhagen with a stop in Baghdad, while also enabling local traffic between Baghdad and Copenhagen. SalamAir says the route marks its ninth new destination of 2026 and expands its European network by linking Oman, Iraq and Northern Europe.
