I just woke up this morning and heard about the 787 incident in India. I am still shocked that such a modern and advanced aircraft could go down just like that. I am sending my DEEPEST condolences to anyone involved and any of the family’s of the involved.
Whenever we learn about what caused it I’m praying that the safety of aviation can be improved as it always does after every major crash.

Same with me man, i found out while playing some War thunder and my Heart just sank!!! so i quit gaming and started finding the logistics of it. and i found out that plane had 4 emergency landings within this month!

Also i was talking to my science teacher about it, and there were some videos of the aircraft with AC not working and screens not working.
Latest theory: The FO, when instructed to raise gear by the captain (after calling positive rate) instead accidentally raised the flaps. This led to vastly decreased lift with the continued heavy drag from the landing gear. The reason the flaps were likely set initially is that not only is it near impossible to miss (there’s digital checklists telling you to configure the flaps/other takeoff settings), but also, if you went to takeoff, it would scream at you about configuration and warnings would go crazy. That… and it appeared to take off in an expected distance on the runway, supporting the correct amount of lift (flaps).

It would be near impossible for that to happen, gear and flaps are no where near eachother. Flaps is next to throttle and gear is on the centre console
It was also found on the crash that the flaps and slats were deployed. Flaps were at flaps 5 which is suitable for takeoff.
Also if it was something like the flaps being accidentally lifted it wouldn’t explain the bang sound the surviving passenger heard.
Double engine failure seems more likely despite being extremely rare. It would explain the bang sound the passenger heard as most RAT (ram air turbine) make a thud sound when deploying. RATs also automatically deploy in a 787 upon both engines failing. Some also point out that the RAT is seen in the video of the crash along with some also claiming they hear the distinctive propeller sound of the RAM in videos of the crash.
I couldn’t find a 787 deployment but here’s the 777 for reference

Not that they’d be next to each other, but that the FO would have absent-mindedly adjusted the flaps instead. But as you pointed out they debunked this with the wreckage. Without the evidence, it would have seemed just as impossible as a double engine failure, as there’s no evidence in the video for a bird strike (no smoke, no flameouts, etc.). Could it be possible the bang heard was the deployment of the RAT, or a malfunction with the gear? I guess we’ll just have to be patient and wait out the investigation.

i found out from the Voice recording from the black box was they lost throttle power so they couldnt build thrust!
