Real World Aviation News

Finally, a new livery that’s actually nice. Will be a pity to say goodbye to the snazzy old one but I do like this. That makes 3 new liveries I like

Portuguese government privatising TAP selling off 49.9% of shares. Currently IAG has not submitted a bit with Lufthansa and Air France KLM bidding on it.

Suppose IAG have Iberia in the region

They did try to take over Air Europa a bit back but pulled out. Would’ve consolidated more control over Spain leading to IAG being the main competitor to the tour operators and LCC’s. Think it’s a missed opportunity. I would obviously prefer TAP to remain independent but sadly the world seems to want to slip towards a more monopolised system with everything so in that case I think IAG should’ve gone full ham.

will this be the end of an era of Qatar, Ettihad and Emirates A380s

most likely, i believe that airlines took them out of storage after the lockdown because of the spike in demand, but its calmed down and airlines dont need the capacity of an A380. its just to big.

The 777 will be used 10x more once everything is good again

Nah not for emirates anyway. Etihad uses them for their full luxury offerings and I can’t see them binning them as fuel isn’t exactly an issue over there. Qatar might but we’ll have to see.

Emirates has other plans indeed

Emirates is the only one that was pushing for a Neo variant of the 380 but with only their support it could never go forward. It’s a pity we’re moving into a generic world of twin engined planes.
