Dallas?
good job! it is Denver
Okay, first half of my vacation flying done yesterday. Decided to trek to DFW instead of fly out of SHV, so it was only one hop from DFW to PDX. Aircraft was a “semi-old” (only 16 years) American Airlines A321-231.
Only saw mostly American Airlines A319s-A321s, some B738s or B38Ms, and a couple B788s I could get a good snap of…
…Then I saw construction of a new terminal extension, looking to have full glass on all sides!
And crossing some of the automobile spaghetti at the megaport…
And to my delight, a Japan Airlines A350 taking off directly ahead of us! Just look at its size compared to the little E-Jet!
Also got a photo of another E175 next to us… which rudely arrived in line later but took off before us!
Good on them though, they had to deal with the leftover bumps from the A350! ![]()
Then some pics inflight and descending:
I know the Portland airport was cozy and great…
…But I hadn’t been here since they modernized the check-in and security area! These photos don’t do the scale and beauty justice, this was only a fraction of it! Absolutely stunning!
Lastly, I didn’t know Icelandair was flying all the way over to the US West Coast! The brand new A321NX (TF-IAD) is an LR taken in March of this year, so makes sense! I think it’s the first LR I’ve seen in person. I read they plan on routes to LAX, DXB, and others from Iceland once they get their XLRs down the road.
Portlands gorgeous now! I’ve flown through it a few times since the new bit opened, and it’s one of my favorites. Icelandair has been flying a good bit to our area too recently, Seattle swapped from 75s to the NEOs a few months back.
Love the photos from PDX! So weird seeing my hometown mentioned in the forum haha.
Yeah, PDX has had a KEF service for quite a while now, I guess the 321NXs are okay, but it’ll never replace the 757. I believe the PDX-KEF 757 service was the longest 757 route worldwide up until about a month ago when they switched over to the 321. We frequently got Hekla Aurora here, too.
It’ll never be the same ![]()
While heading to work i caught N667UA from ORD to DUB flying at just 3,000FT as well as A6-ETH from DUB to AHU
oh… i mean its cool the bird is nice but… it looks kinda weird, i love lufthansa there an amazing airline but, come on! that livery looks a bit out of place
Would’ve loved to see a 346 in the livery but alas…
35K in lufty colours is going to be stunning
Yep
Sorry, but do you have to keep asking questions to which you can find the answer on the net faster than posting (clutter) here?
(I’m not referring to questions that can be enriched by fellow forum participants’ knowledge and experience.)
(I’m also not trying to diminish your participation, and I guess some Discordisation is to be expected, but my point stands.)
Can’t wait to see it on the 380😆

Looks like it’s tried to avoid Equatorial Guinea Airspace and thought it might have been to do with the coup d’etat yesterday but that was Guinea-Bissau
. Maybe the controller was drunk too ![]()
Yeah, haha. I don’t know what was going on. But I think the cargo hold might be some wine exports short…
