Current through WoA 3.1.0
General Info
SCL is the 15th airport to be added to WoA. It comes right on the heels of GRU, and was added in honor of a developer, who was recovering from major health issues.
It can be unlocked via payment of 16 GP or by reaching level 78 at GRU.
Airport overview
Rough taxi map:
Layout Details
Accepted Aircraft Sizes
A passenger
B passenger
C passenger
D passenger
E passenger
F passenger
A cargo
B cargo
C cargo
D cargo
E cargo
F cargo
G cargo
Stand costs and terminal unlock costs
Stand costs:
A - 2,000
B - 4,000
C - 6,000
D - 8,000
E - 10,000
F - 12,000
G - 14,000
Stands can be purchased in increments starting with the lowest category available 1 at a time or you can buy multiple levels at once. So if the stand is D, E, F you could buy each category in turn or buy D and E together or D, E and F together, ultimately it’s the same price to buy all 3 whichever way you decide to do it.
Terminal unlock cost map hopefully coming soon.
Number of stands total available to purchase: (111)
102 passenger
9 cargo
Not all can be used at the same time as many small stands are blocked if the large ones are used or vice versa. This is called a ‘shared stand’, and often will either give the option of using two C class stands or one larger one. Here is an example of that:
In this case, stand E4 is hosting an E class aircraft, blocking the other two. But, if I wanted to use two C class aircraft instead on stands E4A and E4B, I could and then stand E4 would be blocked instead.
Limitations
SCL is actually a very well balanced airport. It does not have an excess of stands, has a very clean taxi map, and has dual landing capabilities. The biggest constraint is probably the relative lack of handling crew. Because of the aforementioned amount of stands, there are often slightly too few handling crews, topping out at 155 or 175, depending on whether you use the premium pass. However, it is far from the worst airport in this regard, and is generally actually quite good for its size.
Recommended strategies:
@Thatflyerguy suggests: SCL has very similar contracts to GRU. Once again, SCL has a boatload of very close D freighters (767s from LATAM, local) which give a LOT of XP and return quickly. I would get those fast. Also, because there is only one source of local AB contracts, Aerovias DAP, the vast majority of local contract rolls will be C class. This means that if you have a few thousand SP to spare, you can quickly get a lot of C contracts without paying Wollars, simply by spamming the local generator with 100 SP rolls.
Other information
SCL airport is currently the latest, but whenever the next airport is added it will be unlocked by SCL, likely at level 72 or 73.
The SCL pass has 71 levels, and the premium pass costs 60 gp. It is one of the most worth-it passes in the game.
