Information based on release : 3.0.1

Overview

Since 3.0 was released the stand and aircraft categorization have changed from the old
S,M,L,X options to the new A,B,C,D,E and F options.

The aircraft categorization for each type can be found here:

Stand Types

Stand Types

There are 3 types of stands

  1. Passenger Only
  2. Cargo Only
  3. Either Passenger or Cargo

The stand graphic will highlight on the top right which types are available for that stand

Stand Numbering

Stand numbering

A stand can show a number of different styles depending on the airport. However there are certain naming conventions now used:

Single Stand number: Say 312 in the below screenshot. This means a single aircraft can be parked in that stand space.

L/R stand numbers: Say 312L or 312R. This means that the basic stand can be split into 2 to allow smaller aircraft to share the space, usually limited to A,B and C

Stand Statuses

Stand Statuses

Stands will show you all categories available to purchase. There are different colors depending on stand status:

  1. Category not shown - Stand cannot accept that category of aircraft
  2. Category in Grey - Stand can accept category but not yet purchased
  3. Category in Green - Stand can accept category and has been purchased

Examples:

4 Stand icon is colored in Red : This means the stand is blocked from use.

Stand Purchasing

Stand Purchasing

Depending on your funds/game needs you can purchase access to stands a couple of ways (this assumes you have purchased the appropriate terminal beforehand)

  1. On purchasing the stand for the first time you will receive 1 ground handler and 1 contract slot as an addition to your current total. This is a one-time thing for each stand…

  2. Stand purchase option 1. You can purchase stand levels one by one. So if you have an A,B,C stand you can buy each one in turn, but you can’t do this for going the other way C,B,A

  3. Stand purchase option 2a. You can purchase all available levels at once so in the above example you can purchase AB&C together. You will pay the cumulative price for your purchase per the list in the pricing section.

  4. Purchase option 2B Again in the above example you can also purchase A&B and pay the cumulative price and purchase C later for its individual price.

There is no ultimate difference in total price whichever method you choose, it all comes down to how much you want to spend in one-go.

Stand Blocking

When MSY was released in 2.6.0, 2.6.0 Release notes the concept of Stand Blocking was introduced

This was a new concept for the game, but often used in real life.

When blocked a whole stand or certain categories will show up as Red on the stand status

There are 3 reasons why a particular stand maybe blocked pr partially blocked

  1. Total Block - Aircraft SizeExample a stand with a D,E or F aircraft, maybe next to another D,E,F aircraft, but there is not enough space to have one at each stand. Once you use one, you will not be able to use the other until the first plane has left the stand.

  1. Total Block - Stand Type Example a stand that has a whole number option and an L and a R option. I.e. 312, 312L and 312R, usually the whole number is for larger aircraft (D,E,F) and allows for 1 aircraft on that stand. L and R are usually for smaller aircraft (A,B,C) and allows 2 aircraft into the same space at the same time.

Large Aircraft- Blocks Smaller gates

Smaller aircraft allow 2 but block larger aircraft

  1. Partial Block - Aircraft Size - Where you have 2 stands next to each other that cover A-F for example, you can get the scenario that if you have a D,E or F aircraft at one stand, and the next stand allows A-E aircraft, only the D and/or E category will be blocked. This will allow you to use both stands, just for different categories of aircraft.
