What is coming in the future?

The World of Airports developer team has always been relatively open about their plans for the future, and while they never have gone as far as publishing a roadmap or dates, we do have a reasonably good understanding of what will come in the future. Things do change frequently, and a good chunk of what they unveil has never come to fruition, or took years. (Look at MSY, the 767, and Alliances, to name just a few.)
Relevant people that we mention a lot in here:
Charlie is @Charlie, he does support and some 3D modeling at flyboys games.
Kubasan is @kubasan, he is the lead developer.
There are a handful of other people who can be trusted, all of whom can be found listed in the first post of the Game News Announcement Thread.
Development information coming from anybody else cannot be taken for granted to be true.
The next update is 3.4.1. It will have minor bug fixes and possibly more 757 liveries. Further features are not known yet, if any are planned.
3.5.0
Boeing 747 non -400 variants
All variants are planned, ranging from the 100 to the Dreamlifter, with the possible exception of the 747-400D
November 1 update: 747 modelling is at an advanced stage of completion:
The majority of liveries will be events, due to their older nature. They are being developed in early preparation for Kai Tak.
DECEMBER 2025 UPDATE: The 747-400, 400BCF, and 400F released in version 3.4.0. However, the devs decided to prioritize releasing on time as opposed to releasing all variants, and so held back the remaining 747 variants. They should be ready for 3.5.0, however.
ZRH - Zurich
ZRH was hinted at by Kubasan in an interview in mid-December, before being confirmed by Charlie a day later. According to that post from Charlie, the model of the terminal is already finished.
Here is what Zurich looks like in real life. The blue part of this map is a planned but not yet built extension to the taxi map.
Items we are reasonably confident about
This category is all the things that have been mentioned repeatedly or we know for certain is in development to some stage or another
Airports
Generic Airports
The concept of generic airports is essentially that the dev team will create several models of airports, which aren’t a realistic recreation of any particular airport, but look similar to many across the globe. The value of this system is that it enables development to be made much faster. This system will NOT replace the high-quality models that the team already produces but simply will augment them. The most played/appreciated generic airports will be upgraded to the level of realism that is expected of current airports.
The smallest variant of generic airport nears completion in early May 2025.
Players will vote to determine the next generic airports.
HKG - Hong Kong (Kai Tak)
This is NOT the same airport as the current HKG that was added in 3.4.0. The one in game is the replacement to Kai Tak, which closed in 1998.
Kubasan has long wanted this in-game, but it would utilize purely classical aircraft and thus not come until such aircraft exist in large numbers.
"As I’ve mentioned before, Kai Tak is a very unique plan that doesn’t quite fit into the usual WoA content pipeline. It’s a retired airport, and the only traffic that would truly make sense there is classic aircraft variants.
So yes—Kai Tak will come, but only once we have enough classic aircraft in the game to do it justice. When it’s released, it will be served exclusively by these classic planes and will be available only from other playable airports.
It’s definitely something special, and we want to make sure it gets the treatment it deserves."

Aircraft
C17
The C17 was confirmed by Kubasan in discord.
The C17 will likely come with the cargo system redesign.
C30J
The C30J remodel is confirmed to be in progress.
Here is a before and after, courtesy of Charlie.
Also, at least one confirmed new livery so far: Coulson firefighting in SCL and SAN, as an event presumably.
As with the C17, likely coming with the cargo system revamp.
Airbus A330/A340 Remodel, A330neo
The A330neo, a highly requested model, was confirmed by Kubasan in Devblog 28.
It is likely coming in 2026, and Charlie has confirmed that the A330 and A340 will likely release together.
As of January 2026, the A330CEO and NEO are both in the modelling stage.
Boeing 737 Family
This one will take a while, but we now have enough information to say it is definitely coming. 350ish liveries are planned.
The 737 will debut a new camera that will eventually be rolled out on all planes, called the flight deck camera.
Charlie made a lot of interesting points here. Hard to summarize, but well worth reading.
LET L-410
A teaser from September 2025 invited the WoA community to find an airport from a chart, and determine what aircraft would be added to the game next. The airport in question was Kunovice, in Czechia, and the aircraft thus being added is the LET L-410. This aircraft was actually announced to be in the works as an April Fools joke in 2024, and apparently the devs have not forgotten.
The light gray image is the 2024 April Fools aircraft, not an official model. The model in question is an open-source aircraft not made by Flyboys.
PBY Catalina
Charlie has confirmed that the PBY Catalina is in progress, stating in discord that he was “doing the catalina for SCL…as decoration.” Given the quality of the model, it is possible that it will also be made playable at some point.
A400
Charlie has confirmed that the A400 will be coming with a cargo update in 2026.
Business Jets/Helicopters
The devs have long been known to want these in-game but haven’t had the time to develop them that we know of.
November 2025 update: still in the works, as confirmed by devblog 30. The recent additions of the ERJ would point to them being closer to development.
Features
Cross-Platform Account Linking
This would finally enable players to have one account on both android and iOS! It would likely involve a game account that is separated from Apple Game Center and Google Play. Presumably, leaderboards will still be hosted on those services, but accounts will likely be Flyboys accounts instead of Apple or Google accounts. This is VERY good news.
Most likely, this is coming in an update reasonably soon. There was talk of it being planned for 3.4.0, but it didn’t end up making that update.
Alliances
This one had an entire devblog dedicated to it! If you want more info, I highly recommend checking it out. Essentially, though, there will be ingame alliances, in which each member is responsible for a specific airport. The goal is to have as many routes as possible across all members. There will be a message board, and more routes = higher rating = greater rewards. Alliances will have their own set of liveries. there will be the option to jointly manage some fleet aircraft, and there will be a hangar system. New members will be added by a vote of all current members. You can also be removed. The alliance will have a global radar that shows all connections and aircraft operated by the alliance.
November 2025 update: still in the works, as confirmed by devblog 30.
January 2026: currently working on eliminating bot accounts. Obviously, botting would be a huge problem for competitive multiplayer, and right now there is no protection against it. However, in the last week or two, leaderboards on android in particular have changed fast, with accounts associated with, among others, the player Defoe being removed from the leaderboards.
Syncing Technical Assistance to Aircraft Maintenance
Basically the title. Confirmed in Devblog 30, will make tech assistance more common on older aircraft or aircraft that will need maintenance soon.
Upgraded Animations
Motion capture is being utilized by the WoA devs for upgraded handling crew animations!
Handling Changes and Ground Service Remodels
New ground vehicles are being designed, and existing ones are being remodeled. This new set of vehicles look really good. This will enable more variety of handling services, and many other things:
- Handling variety based on gate type (Jetbridge vs remote stand)
- Handling that is more tailored to the specific kind of aircraft, such as the number of doors.
- Handling will be split into two phases (Loading and Unloading) which will have a delay between them depending on flight type and contract requirements. Some planes will turn quickly, others will remain longer onstand.
- Crew will disembark and board.
- Natural turnaround delays
- New crew animations
To enable this, more stuff will also happen:
- Aircraft can park at dedicated stands (presumably with scheduler or with stand blocking that was introduced in 3.3.1.)
- FOD inspections will be expanded to cover stand cleaning and maintenance, which ties into runway maintenance. This includes rubber removal and plowing in the winter.
This all requires a rewrite of the handling logic.
As of December 2025, the devs are considering adding a follow-me vehicle to the game.
Livery Customization
Livery Customization is one of the most requested features and has been for years, and the dev team has finally found a workable solution and is working on implementing it. essentially, all the liveries that are currently usable can be rotated, scaled, and repositioned on any part of the aircraft that you would normally see paint on. Not the wings or landing gear, for example. you can also add text and airline logos. This is NOT freehand painting, but it is pretty close.
Also, as confirmed in devblog 29, logos are in progress too, which is huge!
Multi-Directional Operations and Wind
This is a rather cool thing. It is already ingame: CNN airport in India utilizes this, and was the testbed. Flyboys is now working on expanding this functionality to all airports, which requires a rework of taxiway and runway directionality. This logic redesign is in progress.
New Cargo System
Next to nothing is currently known about this, beyond that it is in development and is likely quite a ways out.
November 2025 update: still in the works, as confirmed by devblog 30.
New Events
Next to nothing is currently known about this, beyond that it is in development and is likely quite a ways out. MAY have something to do with challenges.
November 2025 update: still in the works, as confirmed by devblog 30.
Revamped Demand System
Next to nothing is currently known about this, beyond that it is in development and is likely quite a ways out.
November 2025 update: still in the works, as confirmed by devblog 30.
Other
New Game: ScrapIT
This was developed by a handful of new Flyboys developers as a learning exercise. It is fully playable offline. Targeting release by the end of 2025
Other New Game: Historic Game - AirportPRG 2.0
Details are scarce around this project, but it is a new development that would include a new version of AirportPRG, the first game developed by Flyboys Games, and “goes back to the roots of civil aviation.” This wording is interesting, because it implies that more is planned than simply AirportPRG 2.0, or that that is only part of the project.
Items we think are possible but not yet certain.
This is for things the developers have talked about or hinted at but that we cannot yet consider confirmed.
Airports
ANC
In response to a question asked about the PBY catalina, Charlie noted that Anchorage had a water airstrip. He also said that it is ‘not confirmed yet but in close consideration.’
Yellowknife
Yellowknife airport in northern Canada is home to Buffalo Airlines. In the September 2024 Dev Chat, someone asked what one of the next airports would be, and Kuba responded that it would be a special one with a based airline partnership, and to expect it to take a while. Later in the dev chat, someone else asked if he could hint at the partnership, and his response was a buffalo gif. Buffalo airlines makes the most sense as an airline partner, and they are based in Yellowknife. They also operate the DC-3, which he is known to want to be added to the game.
September 2025 update: Jedi (a dev) has said that Yellowknife may never have been seriously planned.
African Airport
It has long been known that an African airport is very high on the Dev wish list, and based on previous dev comments in dev chats, it is very likely it will be in South Africa, and more specifically either Cape Town or Johannesburg/ O.R. Tambo. Another plausible option is Cairo in Egypt.
December 2025 update: Charlie has announced that any African airport that may have been in the works has been delayed for financial reasons. However, they are still interested in both an African and Indian airport in the future.
Aircraft
Douglas DC-3
Kubasan has mentioned repeatedly that the DC-3 is his favorite aircraft, and one of his top choices to add to the game. Also, if Yellowknife is added, the DC-3 would likely be too, because one of the primary aircraft operated by Buffalo Airlines is the DC-3.
Features
Challenges
Almost nothing is known about this, but it was teased in a dev chat over a year ago as being an alternate way of making money that would be linked to alliances. More recently, Kubasan discussed it in a devblog, and revealed that it will essentially be a system of events which will require the alliance to coordinate to achieve tasks and earn rewards and bonuses.
