ZRH - Zurich 🇨🇭

Wanted to do a little post on the airlines and liveries we could potentially see as a part of this airports addition, with a nice healthy selection of older airlines mixed in as you could probably guess was coming as that’s what I’m very fond of .

Naturally Swiss is to be a local airline being based in the airport and with its predecessor having operated from the airport since 1931. I hope we see a few extra titbits added as part of the airline and the update, the MD-11 being a big one being operated from 2002-2004 inheriting 14 from collapsed Swissair. It would provide another airline with a passenger MD-11 as well as a D Class aircraft for players to operate fairly soon into their ZRH experience.

A couple of other local Swiss liveries I’d love to see is their now ex A319 and A332, both of which were transferred from Swissair in 2002 with 8 A319s serving until 2020 and 15 A332’s serving until 2011. Maybe, we’ll see an RJ100 in Star Alliance livery as well.

Another local livery I’d love to see is the Swiss E145, inherited from Crossair when the latter took the Swissair name and rebranded to create Swiss. 25 arrived in 2002 and left the fleet in 2006 having originally served with Crossair since 2000. It would also be lovely to see a Crossair E145 maybe as a special, to give that airline the recognition it deserves for turning Swiss into the modern powerhouse it is, after the controversial collapse of Swissair.

Speaking of Swissair, I very much doubt we’ll see it in full airline form, but it would be fantastic to get a couple of aircraft from the fleet into the game as special livery’s, namely the 743 and the MD-11, both of which are new and unique (Well the 743 is due to be new to the game) as well as maybe the F100 if we’re lucky.

From wiki,

We have the modern Edelweiss fleet fully in-game, however, the A332 and A333 are both not yet included and the MD-83 is likely a long way off. Even though both are no longer in the fleet, it would still be nice to see them represented as part of the local fleet.

Chair Airlines is the third major local airline at the airport, operating flights to destinations in the Mediterranean using its fleet of A320s and A319s. It could also be the basis for the introduction of Germania, considering the airline is the rebranded Germania Flug, the Swiss offshoot.

April 2015,

August 2016,

A minor local airline at the airport is easyJet which has a presence operating a fair number of flights in and out, but uses Geneva and Basel as its 2 big Swiss bases, something which could be represented here, with ZRH not having any Ryanair presence, the bane of the first 3 airports in-game. There is also some potential for easyJet special liveries (of which there are many, Linate - Fiumicino Per Tutti being one of my favourites) as well as the potential inclusion of the old livery and the B752 for slightly longer ops, depending on how the devs feel about it.

Another local holiday airline is Condor of Germany, operating flights to holiday destinations, most of which only fly in the summer months but a select few do fly year round. It also operates flights to Frankfurt twice daily to connect with the airline’s large short and long haul destination roster. It mainly uses an A320 fleet it bases at the airport in the summer.

Another few deceased airlines could be included such as Belair, a prominent holiday charter airline, first named Balair founded in 1925, which would provided 757s based at the airport and if added alongside Air Berlin, could provide a local A320 family competitor to Swiss.

Belair’s destinations in April 2015 from ZRH (It was operated as a mix of Belair and Air Berlin),

Hello would also be another good choice, even though it was based at Basel, it operated a sizeable chunk of its flights from ZRH using the A320 and MD90 fleet at its disposal.

Swiss Sun would be another nice one to see, even if it wasn’t around for very long at all.

Skywork would make for a nice regional airline, though it wasn’t seen at ZRH, operating from Bern and other Swiss airports with its Q400 and Dornier fleet, with it marketing to people wanting to avoid the busyness of ZRH.

Baboo would be a cool addition with its Q400 and E190 fleet, even though it operated only out of neighbouring Geneva.

Darwin Airlines was a regional airline in Switzerland prior to its collapse, operating a fair amount of flight here and there, with the Lugano route being operated by them on behalf of Swiss.

These are just suggestions and I know some people might deem it a lot of information (It really is I know) but I’m a big fan of the industry’s diversity and I’d love to see ZRH not be another airport monopolised by an airline or two, as I feel it saps the fun out of the beginning operations. I’m not sure if I’m speaking for anyone else here, but I find I have the most fun at an airport if the environment is matched by various different aircraft types with lots of liveries. It makes it less of a chore to level up, which is what I believe is really helping make HKG one of the best airports yet.

If you took the time to read all the way down here, thank you ever so much :slightly_smiling_face:. And devs, if you need somebody to trail through the past to find accurate details for these airports, let me know .
