Why should this livery be added?
Similar to the case with the B733, American inherited quite a sizable fleet of these aircraft from AirCal when they merged into American in July of 1987 - more specifically around 21 737-200s of different specifications and variants. (even including a few Combi aircraft, but I couldn’t find much media of them, let alone in American colors)
As to be expected though, these types weren’t with the airline for long, similarly to their 737-300s - by November 1992, the last aircraft of the type (N754UA) left the fleet, with the other 20 having long been gone by then, taken out of service between 1989 - 1991.Now, drawing some more parallels to the case of the 737-300s, it’d be a great event livery that would also further add to the upcoming 737 Classics, providing representation of an aircraft type that, while only operated for a few short years by American, still was quite a notable part of their fleet.
