[ATC] - Take off clearance when runway clear

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?
while aircraft are lining up/backtracking, if there is no other planes on the runway, allow option to give takeoff clearance before aircraft finishes the taxi to lineup/backtrack

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
allow takeoff button to be available as soon as runway becomes available while they are taxiing to get ready for departure, could also allow aircraft to start roll out immediately instead of waiting for takeoff clearance and stopping on the runway

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
Would expedite takeoff and would slightly speed up departures. Realistically ATC would usually do so as well

Attach anything that helps visualize or support your idea.

This is how it used to be, honestly a little sad they changed it to how it is now

Actually, they used to not have a takeoff clearance. I do think this could be a good update for airports that have a pure takeoff runway like IAD, where the takeoff clearance is given a bit earlier, with in use of the paid ATC departure. But each airport will be quite different, as each airport has somewhat different guidelines.

This is a great idea, since last adjustments, like introduction of safty regulations with update 3.0. and GRU and later clearance for arriving planes until previous plane just landed reach holding line, have massively reduced the process and progress at the airports! This would be a step that could partially compensate for these delays. :ok_hand: :+1:

I feel that we should be able to choose, as players who prefer realism might appreciate the current setup, while those seeking maximum efficiency can utilize the automatic clearance.

This idea corresponds with realism. I like also the realistic simulation, thats what makes WOA special. However, if there is an idea that would speed up the gameplay, implementing it would be no disadvantage.

Great idea. We will add take off clearence button during line up.

First off, I want to say thanks for 3.4 and also adding this feature into the game, it really does help with the takeoff management of the game.

Not complaining but I did have a different idea for it, compared to what has been implemented.
At the moment, when the aircraft reaches the hold short point of the runway, we get now a line up & wait option, even when there isn’t any other traffic.

But my idea with the original post was to have takeoff available, when there is no expected plane to land and no aircraft on the runway.

Line up option should be only when another plane just landed and the other one is ready for departure so they line up in the meantime, but in real life, if there is no traffic expected to land or anything on the runway, the aircraft does not need to be cleared to line up but given takeoff clearance right away.

In 3.4 in this case of the line up & wait, the plane gets two separate clearances which is not necessary if the runway is empty, it could just get take off (like it was in previous versions)

I hope I explained this correctly

No thank you. I like to be realistic at times and separate aircraft when a bigger one takes off in front of a smaller one, which would be weird if I couldn’t let aircraft only line up.

I see you didn’t read or understand my post but I said when the runway is EMPTY, so no traffic expected to land or depart in front of
If you have a small plane ready after a large one, you’d still have to give it line up clearance before it can take off

That’s where the immediate takeoff button wouldn’t apply

Another thing that sort of bothers me is that the planes shouldn’t be stopping on the runway after you’ve already said line up and takeoff. If the aircraft still waits on the runway, it kinda defeats the purpose of this feature.

Yeah, used to work like that before lining up was even added, but doesn’t anymore.
