Airport Name and ICAO/IATA Code
Queen Beatrix International Airport (ICAO: TNCA / IATA: AUA)
Location (City, Country)
Oranjestand, Aruba
Airport Type & Size
It is Aruba’s international airport and only airport for the island. It has 1 runway at 2,808m/9,213ft, its runway supports A380 unlike SXM but it doesn’t have the facilities and taxiways to accommodate the type. The airport had 3.4 million passengers pass through its doors in 2025.
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It would provide an airport at the top end of South America and one that has both regional flights into South/Central America and the Caribbean, but also flights from North America and Europe. It would be similar in some ways to SXM but nearly has a full set of taxiways, preventing a lot of the backtracking players dislike at SXM (Personally have no problem with it) plus a greater amount of stands for C Class aircraft with them all being placed orderly on one side hopefully preventing large queues. It also has a large area for private aviation on the far side of the runway. The left hand remote stands appear to also be used for cargo shown with the satellite image of a 727F being unloaded in 2021 below,
Major Airlines & Routes
It’s the base of Aruba Airlines and could have Air Aruba, Insel Air Aruba, Tiara Air and ArubaExel as other locals. KLM, TUI Netherlands, all the US/Canadian carriers, Majority of Caribbean and SA carriers too. It’s a nice airport close enough to Venezuela, Guyana and Colombia to get their small regional aircraft and permit a large amount of liveries and types you’d never see, plus it’s a popular holiday destination for NA and European holidaymakers making for a brilliant mix.Previously BA, TCX Scan, Thomson, TCX UK (Finally give TCX an actual destination airport), First Choice, a whole host of local Caribbean and Venezuelan carriers, Skyservice, US Airways, Continental, Pullmantur Air, Condor and many many more.
2008 flights,
Unique Features or Challenges
A sea approach like SXM but not quite as dramatic, a large range of aircraft types and carriers, A mid-way airport between SXM/NA and the 2 playable airports in SA.
