Generic Airports

Where do you think the next one will be built?
general airport?

I think in Africa

Not meaningless, just them trying to see where we predict the next generic airport would be

Another quality, friendly comment Json. Not meaningless in anyway. Tis a discussion

Personally I doubt it, because they will probably want to make Africa’s first airport fully modeled and not generic. I bet Europe honestly

In actual answer to your question my man, we have no idea. Could be anywhere but I’m hoping it’ll fill a gap in the global map like South America or North/Central Africa as I believe Jo’burg is in the works (Just my beliefs not gospel). Would love a small European airport though say Scandinavia or Northern Spain

If a discussion doesn’t appeal to you, just ignore it. Not everyone wants to know that you aren’t interested in this conversation. Just wasting your own time and everyone else’s time making comments like that.

Cmon dude, generic airports are now officially part of WOA, whether you like them or not. You’re definitely not helping the conversation. Say positive things that will add to the conversation or remain silent

I’ll be happy if they can connect SAN and MSY… maybe middle of the U.S.?

It would be a nice change to have a smaller airport in the US to spread out traffic, person though I think it’s time Canada gets an airport to go with the US ones. I do think that a generic airport that has a heavy focus on cargo operations would work well, somewhere like EMA or BFS.

By the way, I actually got curious (based on DevBlog #27).

If I understand correctly, there should be other variants of generic airports coming.
And here’s what I’m really curious about — what these new variants will look like.
Will all the templates be single-runway, or will there be some with two runways?
And what about categories — will it stay A, B, C, D, or will there be an E as well?

But I actually like the idea of generic airports.
Yes, they’re not exact copies of real airports, but it’s a real chance to have them in places where a full airport is unlikely, or simply to see that specific airport in the game.
I’ve noticed that currently, the main focus is on large airports, which are created with maximum detail.

Canary island airport would be good with the current generic airport. Just needs more stands but it’s very similar to TFS/ACE

If the developers did some modifications to the existing generic airport, such as extending the taxiway down the length of the runway (removing the need for backtracks) and adding some remote stands between the main taxiway and the stands at the terminal then you’ve got an almost perfect fit for the Canary Islands major airports, I’d personally say ACE or FUE would be better off as a generic airport, with TFS and LPA being kept for a true to life airport, being two of the busier airports in the region.

Another curiosity of mine though, is if the generic airport as it currently is could also have a variant with jetbridges on the terminal? Something to at least mix up the handling scene, with some aircraft using jetbridges and others using stairs.

Yeah ACE definitely the perfect one I’d say.

I believe based on reading that the airport can be updated at whim. They can just remove parts and rearrange so a Canary Island airport is a big possibility. Tenerife would be good as a fully modelled one but the rest are up for grabs imo. Arricefe is my childhood first airport I visited so I’d love to see that lol.

Got to use all those 757s somewhere.

Hoping we get some Thomas Cooks, Thomsons, myTravels and Monarchs in the mix too. I don’t think I’d ever leave

Definitely,

Looks generic if I’ve ever seen an airport

A good base for a second version of generic airports if you ask me, I’d say it’s a much better fit for a lot more airports than the existing example is, especially if european generic airports are on the cards.

i can see some African airports being generic help expand the area.
