For North America, I think Colorado Springs (COS) could be a good fit since it would connect SAN to IAD/MSY.
Mumbai INTERNATIONAL Airport code BOM
NEW DELHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIRPORT CODE IS DEL
It most certainly is my good man. Welcome and thank you for the fact.
Wow… and as a matter of fact, Bengaluru’s Kempagowda airport code is BLR, and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Airport code is HYD.
I think the generic ones will only be one track, I don’t know for sure, but that’s my perception.
Wonder if they do Lukla as a generic airport.
Or Saba
we have CNN, lets work with what we have first. Let the developers decide and if you want to suggest an airport. Create an airport thing
Is there a chance that a general airport in Europe will appear in version 3.5.0?
There’s always a chance but I really doubt it. I don’t think Europe is very high on the priority list of the devs right now as it would make more sense to fill in the gaps between playable airports (most obviously Africa)
the great question is like where?
Like it kinda needs to be central or west africa in this matter as it kinda needs to connect contracts from SYD-BKK-MCT-CNN-GRU-SCL
If we keep CPT on the main to do list, Nigeria would be in the middle of the gap.
And I think European airports come only when they start to mass produce generic airports. Then get to one per major country.
Recently they have seemed to try to do a stepping stone sort of thing, where they release multiple airports in a region in quick succession to enable good connectivity on short routes too. Think MSY/SXM, GRU/SCL, and SYD/BKK/HKG/CNN. I think if one African airport is on the horizon, there’d probably another one or two waiting in the wings.
And for what it’s worth, CPT was never confirmed, always merely speculation.
CPT is still one of the most logical. I wouldn’t go too close to Europe or MCT especially with GRU needing destinations. And the devs have to have it in their minds for some reason. Unless there’s like an African SXM with waterfalls or zebras or something.
Johannesburg (JNB)258 flights every day
Cairo (CAI)247 flights every day
Addis Ababa (ADD)198 flights every day
Cape Town (CPT)109 flights every day
Casablanca (CMN)107 flights every day
Nairobi (NBO)102 flights every day
Algier (ALG)102 flights every day
Lagos (LOS)95 flights every day
I am sure the devs have considered it, and it remains a strong contender. I am merely reiterating that it was never confirmed or even strongly hinted at. Also, airports like Dakar are vastly closer to GRU and SCL than CPT is, 3200 miles vs 4000, and it provides a nice connection to southern europe especially (2700 miles to BRI). The western african airports strike me as a stronger first candidate, although my previous comment that at least two african airports seem likely to release back to back whenever they do end up making one would, if true, mean the distance argument could very well be entirely irrelevant.
I think commercially for growing the player base CPT also makes a lot of sense due to higher GDP and being one of the bigger countries. Nigeria is the biggest population by far and also high GDP. Kenya is also up there. Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria if you go north.
We also need to think about size. They’re going to make multiple. So what is good for a bigger single runway, double runway, etc. Maybe we get those before a CNN clone.
They did say in last blog that they have got four airports being worked on, if that includes Hong Kong then got three unknown airports planned.
Honestly, I would go for LOS, it’s in a good location in central Africa, there’s quite a few local and regional airlines (even though most of them are really small), and the layout is interesting there too. But NBO or ADD would be nice too, those would be more oriented for eastbound traffic though. Assuming there will be an airport in South Africa, those would all make sense
Until now, as playable airports have been added, a large number of airports serving destinations within the country and neighbouring nations have been implemented. Given this background and route selection, I guess there remains significant scope for expansion in the African continent and Indonesia. For example, CPT/LOS/NBO and DPS.
