LHR Pre-Release Discussion

2.1 is tower manager, BRI, and 787, except the 787 isn’t in the beta test even though Kuba said in the Q&A it was still happening. So that’s kinda up in the air

It just seems strange that they’ve already progressed quite significantly on LHR even though 2.1 hasn’t released and is still probably a week or two away.

I’m certainly not counting on it (maybe I’m just too excited for Heathrow :joy:) but it doesn’t add up to me.

I beleive I asked his elsewhere as well, doesn’t LHR have triple jetways for the 388?

Google says yes

787 can still make 2.1, even if they put it in, they don’t allow the testers to buy any new versions. Even when testing they don’t put absolutely everything in to it. I’ve seen that happen far too many times. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
As for LHR, as you may have seen from FB etc. they are still building it, plus that will need a lot of testing before release. SXM when that was tested had a lot of changes before it will sent live with 2.0. LHR will likely be the same.
The testing for 2.1 is fairly stable so I suspect a release in a week or so and LHR released somewhere around Christmas/New Year time line, it’s a huge airport and will need a huge amount of review and play.

That’s a good point I didn’t think about, thanks for the info.

Have the devs said anything about trying with DEL again after LHR or something? Or is that airport plan totally scrapped??

Postponed, but probably not scrapped, since they want to include an airport in every part of the world.

Definitely not scrapped, call it indefinitely postponed until the Unity licensing issue is resolved in a way that makes DEL more viable.

How is it possible to develop Heathrow so quick? I mean we can’t have Delhi and Heathrow at the same time. Delhi has been in Development for a few months or so. And Heathrow in 2023 is in my opinion impossible it takes like 6 months to 1 year to develop Heathrow

I would imagine it’s been in the works for quite some time, possibly started development before, or shortly after the release of 2.0

This was an interesting read. A huge surprise with LHR to be the next. And a good one. As a European I have missed a real major airport. PRG is boring and don’t get me started on the two other European airports. I will definitely use my card to buy gold for LHR. As I’ve been flying countless times to/from/via LHR. I hope other mid-major European Airports will come in 2024/2025. As I understand Delhi is postponed to the one after LHR. Then probably Australian and then South American one before looking at American/European once again. Hope you all actually will spend some money on this game as a form of self respect and gratitude to these developers. It’s the least we can do. I hope to see many more destinations to Africa and Asia with LHR. And some new liveries of these regions.

It’s never taken that long to develop an airport, even shorter nowadays since they can outsource the models. Which is undoubtedly what happened here.

Well nice that Heathrow is added as I flew there before 2 with British Airways and 2 with Aer Lingus back in 2013 and 2014

You know when people run business they have plans, like, very intensive plans but can’t be shown to the public thus we don’t know everything. Have you thought that LHR has always been on the list and they had already made some basic moves or drownings for LHR? With the unity thing, DEL is now postponed and LHR could then become the backup plan, that’s why it seems like a surprise but in a way, not a surprise. Plus, now they are working with Tai Model and it definitely speeds up everything

Every game like this has a roadmap and that map is most likely on a white board at the flyboys offices, there will be a mixture of major medium and minor updates on the list, but also a list of curve balls. Take the tower agent, that wasn’t really planned, but the concern about the set up of 2.0 accelerated it and here we are with it coming in 2.1. I will be very interested to see how it goes over. Frankly I like what they have done. Although I have a couple of concerns.
As for LHR I honestly think it was next in line after DEL but after they had to stop work on DEL, they pivoted and pushed LHR ahead.

The modeling tie up will help a bit, but you still have to plan all the pathways etc. with the game. History has said 2 airports a year. I have a feeling it’s going to go to 3 or 4 a year now as they get better modeling and coding abilities within Unity. How long we have to wait for DEL I don’t know, but I doubt we will see it unless Unity do a turn on their licensing changes.

Just on your last note (more for everyone else’s benefit), the current plan is as follows

LHR next
A N Other ‘large’ airport (not Delhi for the reasons outlined above)
A smaller airport

The plan being all will be in the game by summer next year, so roughly one every three months going forwards.

As you’ve intimated @carlsberg72, I think LHR will have been in the works anyway and has just jumped to the front of the queue, so not just reached this level of development overnight

I really hope they will add the A321NEOLR and A320NEO as Aer Lingus used them between Dublin and London Heathrow every single few hours or so

But in reality one rwy is for landings and one for takeoffs. Same as IAD. Now 27R landings and 27L takeoffs.
