YYYWEAAYYYY
they should

Honestly amazed nobody has said anything

Heathrow is in a blackout due to a fire in their power grid that even needed 150 people to evacuate. The fire isn’t out yet but it’s “under control”

Mostly said on the aviation talking point. But yeah.

I’m absolutely dumbfounded, so yeah there was a fire at a power station that supplies the UKs Busiest airport. So they didn’t have another source of power apart from that 1 power station, and their backup generators were on the site of the fire! How idiotic do you have to be! Your ‘backup’ shouldn’t be at your main source! Just a joke. So the airport is closed for today. I mean airlines will lose loads of money! And BA losing millions. Crazy. So BA aircraft and other airlines’ (not impacted as much obviously) are stuck at other British and European airlines. Absolute joke. And airlines like BA and Virgin should get loads of compensation, from either the power station or Heathrow Airport. As it’s costing airlines more then most people earn in a lifetime! And also getting transportation for crew to get to the aircraft to fly them back to Heathrow, and paying passengers for hotels and ect. Crazy, absolutely insane. Heres Britain for you I suppose.
Also may I mention, somehow T5 has power, but obviously they need the Tower and The fire station to have power to operate.

also might spot the BA A380s Virgin 787 BA 787 and BA777s tomorrow, depending on the runways in use.

Good for LCY! Now just the 320Neo!

Amazing! Wanna share some more info:

  • Most efficient fuel/pax to ever land in LCY
  • 30% less CO2 per seat compared to E1
  • 63% less noise compared to E1 (very good not only for the pax, but also for the population around the airport!)
  • Normal E195-E2 range is 5.500Km (3000nm), but in airports with steep aproach like LCY, it’s 3.200Km. Embraer have developed and is certifying an auto-takeoff system called E2TS – Embraer Enhanced Takeoff System, which will allow an improved range to up to 4.000Km in airports like LCY, allowing direct flights to cities like Istambul, Gran Canaria, Casablanca, Athens and Cairo.

One extra picture:

And a video from the landing:

I’m no expert, but seems a pretty soft landig to me

That’s if it happens.

Due to the low availability of slots at Heathrow, Gulf air will be starting a 3 weekly service to LGW, starting this Sunday, aswell as their Heathrow flights!

The aircraft is scheduled to arrive at 6:55am and depart Gatwick at 11:25am!
I’ll be seeing this aircraft so look out on Real world Aviation (sharepoint) to see my pictures.

So is its range currently shorter then A220-100?
Despite having Heathrow, think having LCY in WoA would be brilliant, especially if they got the steep approach and takeoffs in the game.

E195-E2 is an upgrade from the E1 project, not a clean sheet design like the BCS/A220. This came with pros/cons, amongst them:

  • E2s are cheaper then A220s
  • A220s are bigger, and have greater range

Disconsidering LCY and steep aproaches, the A220-100 had around 1000nmi greater range then E195-E2. I didn’t look much, but I couldn’t find info on the actual A220-100 range from LCY like I did with the E2, but I did find out it’s one of the two aircrafts with stand limitations, the other one being because of noise limitations:

“Two A220 aircraft can be scheduled on the ground at LCY simultaneously subject to A220 stand
availability. The scheduling of three or more A220 arrivals or three or more A220 departures within any 75-minute period is subject to A220 stand availability and an operational assessment by LCY Airport.”

Late 2024, Embraer announced some engine optimizations and the discovery that fuel burn in real life conditions were less then expected, increasing E195-E2’s range up to 3000nmi from the previous 2600nmi (against A220-100’s 3600nmi), shortening the gap a bit.

To sum it up, from what I read, the E2s are lighter, bit smaller, quieter and 12,5% more fuel efficient then it’s competition, while the heavier A220 can fly significantly further and carry more pax, being particularly better in longer routes compared to the E2.

About LCY in WoA: as much as I’d love to see LCY and steep aproaches in the game, I don’t see it happening anytime soon as it would be too close to an existing airport, wouldn’t allow routes between then. If we are to get steep aproaches tho, there’s also Florence and Santos Dumont!

Also they use the same engine family but I prefer the A220 over the E2, With the latter you can do flights from LHR to STN in the game  and yeah rather LCY then those two airports.

There’s no E2 in the game tho. Biggest Embraer currently available is the E190, 114 pax IRL, while the E195-E2 can carry up to 150! :slightly_smiling_face:
